Anyone who grew up in the late 80's and early 90's can tell you that (aside from the Burton Batman films) the 90's sucked pretty hard when it came to comic book movies. Then along comes Blade. A superhero film starring a black lead that's also rated R.

I loved it as a kid and I think it's held up pretty well. This film is pretty much the only reason why I give David S. Goyer the benefit of the doubt. Wesley Snipes was perfectly cast as was Stephen Dorff. Great gore and action. Great soundtrack too. Fuck me, I like dubstep/electronic.

I didn't like the sequels very much but I know Part 2 has its fans.

Makes me wonder what if the Spawn movie was R rated and maybe had a better director. Hard to believe that both Spawn and Blade had the same budget, both had black leads, both were dark stories, but Spawn was PG-13 and under-performed. Whereas Blade was rated R and was a hit (made three times its budget back).

Blade was just fun. I thought it looked stupid and I recall a friend telling me I needed to see it. Totally blew me away. The sequel had some cool monster designs but that's about it. They wasted Donnie Yen. And there's a scene where Blade's vampire love interest dies from exposure to the sun and instead of bursting into flames and dying an agonizing death she slowly turns into ashes in his arm in a romantic way. That always bugged the fuck out of me. Stay consistent. Kill her another way if you want her to die a nonviolent death.

Blade 2 was better but he did have better one liners in the original. Kind of. "Some motherfuckers always trying to skate uphill" is probably the best one in the series.

I love it and part 2. For different reasons and in different ways but they're both great.

Still one of the best intros in a comic book movie.

And not even the rave fight, just the sun slowly going down over a cityscape (which I can't find a video clip or gif of). And since Marvel is Disney property now, Blade running Goliath and the rest of the gargoyles isn't impossible.

lol, fuck? Nomak >>>>>> Frost.

why would you give a glorified stuntman a leading-speaking role after a master thespian like stephen dorff

plus frost was this awesome euro-trash villain and then we get to cheesy ass nomak. fight scenes and music were cool in blade 2 though

Too bad they never made a part 3

you didn't like Bro-Cula in the third huh? lmao what an awful choice for the Count. HHH was fun though lol

With Donnie Yen, he originally came on as a fight choreographer only on the film, but Del Toro was such a huge fan he wanted to include him if only for a little bit.
