I went to Six Flags the other day (awesome time, lots of good coasters) and on the very first ride my phone managed to find it's way out of my buttoned cargo pocket. So yeah, this sucks.
I am about 13 months into my two year contract with Verizon so I'm not eligible for an early upgrade and I obviously don't have the insurance on it. In a quick roundtable with various friends it seems I have three options, two of which are sane.
#1 - Add a second line to my plan for an additional $10 a month (and getting my contract extended one more year) then I can buy a phone from any Verizon retailer complete with rebates and such.
#2 - Search online at outlets or eBay for a phone which I can then get activated for a one time fee of $15 and still keep my existing plan. Obvious drawbacks are integrity of people selling said items and if I'll get everything that I need (friend bought a phone that appeared to be a good deal but was suprised at the lack of manual, home charger and battery).
#3 - Pay the ungodly high no-activation fee for a phone from previously mentioned Verizon retailers. This would eliminate concern of phone quality and piling on to my contract, but we're talking like 250% mark-up here.
So GAF I turn to you. Which way do you think I should go? Anyone else been in this situation?
