Rumble Roses XX details.. tag team, relationship system..

The biggest gameplay change in Rumble Roses XX is the implementation of tag-team battles for some girls-on-girls action. Players will be able to pick a pair of their favorite females and then brawl in battles between teams of two. To give more personality to the tag-team system, the developer of Rumble Roses XX plans to include a "relationship system" in the game. In the chaos that explodes in the ring, an errant slap or chop can sometimes find its way to a teammate. If the team's relationship is strong, one or two mistakes won't be much of a problem. But if the bond isn't tight, a single mistake can lead to the team's breakup.

Rumble Roses will also feature some significant changes with regard to its characters. Uchida says none of the existing characters will be replaced, and he recommends that fans of the series check out the changes to the known roster before inquiring about new characters. The developer is thinking of making each wrestler specialized in a specific fighting style, such as a throw-based fighter or a full-contact fighter. Using the judo specialist Makoto as an example, Uchida revealed that she will be redesigned to fight more specifically in her martial art, thereby using more grapples and fewer punches and kicks.

I thought my wife hated DOA:VB. She's gonna charge up on the Lifetime channel want to fuckin murder me when this comes home. She hates wrestling with a passion. I will only get it if it is good though.

I just hope the relationship system is leagues better than the intangible shit in DOA:XVB.

Rumble Roses was a fairly barebones package. It's definitely a good concept and effort, but it needs all the fleshing-out it can get.

I hope the "relationship system" is dynamic during matches, so there could be changing alliances, and 3 on 1 situations and stuff like that... unlike the alignment system in the first game, which only changed at the end of matches... and really didn't do much other then piss me off that I couldn't have the character's alter-egos unlocked at the same time without a Action Replay code.

TToB, this IS the sequel. Where are you hearing about a PS3 version?

Konami realized that the lack of both heel and face versions of characters was a stupid move and fixed this in the Japanese release. You can play as either version in exibition without a cheat device, although I used one anyway. :) At least with a cheat device you can permanently unlock all the characters in exhibition...

Agreed, but they did add some nice extras to the Japanese release (no new wrestling modes though), so I have confidence in Konami to improve things for the sequel. The tag team alone adds in the original game's most lacking feature.

I'd like to see more wrestlers and/or more emphasis on making the heel/face versions of each character play differently than each other. Also modes like fatal four way, three way dance, cage matches, etc. would be nice. I'm sure CAW in this game would go over huge, too. Perverts would love it! :D

Also add some more varied types of rings, better in-game music (how about custom soundtrack?) and maybe some commentary. Keep the referees out and just use the crowd for counting like the original.

This game is looking really cool to me right now. One thing I wanted on the first Xbox was a good wrestling game but it never happened... this looks like it will be the first good wrestling game on an Xbox console. And the online play should make the game ****ing awsome.

There was a game save on one of the recent Playstation magazine demo disks that basically did the alterego unlock code so I'm not as pissed now:) That said, I would love to get the JP version (I heard the animations were better, and the sound not as flaky) but its not worth the hassle of modding my PS2 for one game.

Two things I hope they tweak with the gameplay engine are the reversals and the way you can do any move at any time. They either need to mix up the reversal animations more, or let you reverse reversals or something... too often the game gets in a loop of reversals. And as for the move progression... just something like Pro Wrestling on the NES, most things work right away, but some stuff doesn't work and a few things can be turned around on you if your opponent isn't weak enough. Keep it simple, but add some depth... like Smash Brothers.

I am really glad there is a sequel coming though. One of my favorite games of the last year.

It's not a huge difference, but the overall package is better than the U.S. release. You get Japanese and English voice options (the Japanese voices sound much better; I'm not even talking about the story stuff but during matches),improved animations, a few more submission moves, all the characters in exhibition, one extra character (Mistress' valet, Sabastian, the only male character in the game), an art gallery, training videos, five movies to unlock including music videos, and for the pervs, you can move the camera around and zoom in/out during submissions. Game play feels just a bit tighter to me, too. The A.I. can still be just as stupid and just sit there for a second when you get grabbed every once in a while.

They also renamed the humilation moves to "H-Moves," which seems more fitting. :lol

but its not worth the hassle of modding my PS2 for one game.

It's worth getting your PS2 modded for all the great import titles out there that never made it Stateside, or the games that had better Japanese releases. :)

Stuff like The Rumblefish Super Galdelic Hour, Initial D, Naruto Narutimett Hero 2, Jojo's, Ape Escape 3, Intelligent Cube Final, Ka 2 (Mr. Mosquito 2) Vampire Collection, Futari De Fantavision, and all the SNK titles that will never see release on PS2 over here (KOF '94 Rebout, KOF Neowave, Garou MOTW, Samurai Shodown V, SvC Chaos, Twinkle Star Sprites La Petite Princess, Last Blade 1&2, etc.) and much more. Japan gets tons of new games of all different genres all the time that will never see the light of day over here.

I've stepped in a few Rumble Roses threads now with Lyte saying that RR has a modicum of worth. Finally, I'll bite.

I tried RR at a friend's place maybe a couple months back. All of five minutes passed before I could no longer cope with the similarities to Smackdown controls. I wanted to like it, for obvious reasons. What's in this game that's warrants another look-see?

I hope they add more clothes to unlock or modify.
I actually liked the US voice acting. It was stupid, but stupid in a funny kind of way.

"She has magnificent teats!"

Hey, I'm not the only one. Wrestling guys like Bishop also agree. :)

I just like RR because it takes the SD!-style controls, but makes it a bit more arcade-like and easier to get into, combined with more over-the-top moves and submissions. I think it's easier to make a more satisfying wrestling game when you're using made-up characters and going a little crazier with the moves; works for both Rumble Roses and especially for Ultimate Muscle IMO.

That same friend I mentioned gave me a copy of Galactic Wrestling PS2. Sealed and everything; he just didn't want it. I actually do like it for what it does, so I guess I can give RR another shot.

I need to get Galactic Wrestling on PS2; I've only played the GC version. I prefer the cel-shaded look over the PS2's normal polys though.
