Did a search and didn't see it posted. It came from SP*NG so take it with a grain of salt.

Hot rumour from Japan enticing RPG gamers over the weekend foretells of a high-budget remake of Final Fantasy VII for Nintendo’s DS portable...

Speaking to SP*nG this morning, a Square Enix representative said, “Final Fantasy VII is one of the franchises that we aim to really explore using our polymorphic content principal. There has been talk of a remake for sometime now as you know. We are aiming to deliver such properties in many different ways and on many different platforms and FFVII will be the first to really show this strategy to its fullest potential.”

funny how this comes up when some people were discussing the possibilities of a DS remake in the other thread

and like i said before, i hope this is true to see the hilarity of fanboys bickering over a DS remake

i dont read it regularly, im curious.
Well, they got the GBA Micro right. Anything else, I'm not sure.

Wasn't FF7 on multiple disks. I wonder how they would fit it all on the DS.

God. DAMMIT.

If that's their big plan for a FF7 remake, that's just WRONG. WRONG.

Interactive cut-scenes! Guide Sephiroth's sword into Aerith's body!

RE2 was pretty big, but they squeezed that onto a 64MB cart.

new GB at E3
Zelda trailer at GDC
REV at TGS

all before anyone else if i remember accurately....but since its Nintendo related news, nobody really remembered.....

all the ds needs is a 512 to 1gb cart and ff VII will be on it with ease

Technology has gone very far in today's age. By shrinking the size of FF7's backgrounds and data compression, FF7 could easily appear on the DS's biggest card IIRC.

no offense, Blue, but those aren't exactly massive things to predict. The exception might be the GB Micro one, but I could swear I remember they were predicting the much fabled, 'more powerful than PSP' GBA2?

Now, if they had predicted the full, 3D remake of FFIII, as well as FFIV-VI being released on GBA a month or so before they became official, I might hold more credit in this.

So you think putting the FF7 remake on the DS instead of the PS3 would be a smart decision?
it appears so. :lol :lol

I want a FF7 remake on PS4. you heard me, PS4. not PS3 or DS.

FF7 remake for PS4 launched in 2012. that way we can have FF10 quality CG graphics in realtime, but for FF7 remake. oh hell yes. :D

Ugh, ***** is just an absolutely worthless piece of shit. They always come up with theories and rumours, especially when there's a conference on the horizon. Sometimes they pull them out of their own ass(such as the DS becoming positioned as a PDA at E3) some of them is just the foul offspring of the various rumours and musings that hit the web(FF7 Remake for DS). There is absolutely no substance whatsoever behind any of the garbage they print, it's just that with all the bile that they spew, some of it does by pure chance happen to coincide with the truth to some extent.

Seriously, can we just ban all mention of ***** in any serious sense and lock any topics based off of ***** 'news' stories.

GTFO

They also got Nintendo UK's deal with BT Openzone long before anyone was running with it.

They had a decent Peter Moore 360 interview a while back.

...however, look at some of the ballsy stuff they now have in the wings to ruin what good they've done if these arguably huge things don't materialise:

Mario Paint DS next year
Revolution related showing/keynote at Dec 2 event
Redesigned DS 'months away'
Final Fantasy VII to DS

Thats just the NIntendo related stuff. I spose its worth pointing out that ***** do seem to be treating this as rumor themselves.... it really would be shocking though. Humor the thought a minute, what would this board be like?

Feasability aside for a moment, I think this has been discussed before. The old PS discs repeat game world data over each of its three discs, which would have been unnecessary on one medium. I'm not sure what resolution FF7 was: something between 256x224 and 640x480 I expect, but you could save space on both pre-rendered backgrounds, save some on the audio, and you'd get more for your bink/smacker/mpg2/divx/m4a video compression now too. If they wanted to, they could do it. I think FF3 will prove the technical possibility... whether this would actually happen is another thing altogether though.

They should just go all out and sell the same game three more times.

2006 - OMG Handheld FF7 awesome!
2007 - OMG Superior handheld version!
2010 - OMG Beautiful FF7 remake for PS3!

oh boy i hope it retains the hideous PSX-era 3D character models, but implements tifa titty touch screen mini games
