Okay, this is almost definitely false. Like, almost positively. But HOLY SHIT I hope it isn't.
Coseqeunce of Sound is reporting that LCD Soundsystem will reunite in 2016.
So far the band's manager has offered only 'no comment'. Meanwhile reps from the band's label have called out the rumors as 'false'.
I would lose my shit if this happened. I would spend a terrible amount of money to have a probably awful time at Coachella, just to see this group live. For the love of all that is holy, let this be true.
Coseqeunce of Sound is reporting that LCD Soundsystem will reunite in 2016.
Just four short years ago, James Murphy announced the end of LCD Soundsystem. At the time, Murphy said the bands existence wasnt sustainable, citing the exhaustion of the touring lifestyle. The band concluded their reign in epic fashion with a blow-out gig at Madison Square Garden in April 2011, which was later turned into a concert film/documentary chronicling their 10-year, three-album existence.
Now, though, it appears Murphy has decided to get the band back together one more time. Multiple sources have confirmed to Consequence of Sound that LCD Soundsystem are planning a comeback in 2016. As we hear it, the band will headline at least three high-profile music festivals in the US and UK, with an official announcement expected soon.
A representative for LCD Soundsystem could not confirm our report. Update: DFA Records, which is co-owned by Murphy, retweeted the news.
Update 3:00pm: Billboard has confirmed our report, citing a well-placed source who says LCD Soundsystem is definitely reuniting."
