Some of mine film buddies told me about the next Spaceballs movie. Not sure if its true but the title is "Spaceballs 3: The search for Spaceballs 2."

Can anyone confirm this? Even if its not true, the title kicks ass.

I thought it was supposed to be "Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money?"

Yeah because you know, one sequel every 20 years ... they're milking that cow completely dry huh?

I wish it were true, but I remember hearing this same rumor (with the same proposed title) about 3 years ago... so probably unlikely =/

Even though "The Search For More Money" would be cool since it's in the first movie and all, I've always liked that title "The Search For Spaceballs 2" since I heard it about a year ago.

Geez, I heard the "Search for Spaceballs 2" rumor when I was still in high school (note: I graduated HS in 1996).

This thread is just going to turn into one long retelling of spaceball jokes. :)

...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Umm, yes, there is more Spaceballs coming. Confirmed.

As I posted here, there is a Spaceballs animated series in production. Here's the info again for all you lamers who didn't check out my thread in January.

Mel Brooks' wacky 1987 "Star Wars" comedy spoof "Spaceballs," is being retooled for the small screen via a three-way project involving the producer, MGM TV and little-known German company BFC reports Variety.

The idea it seems is to do an animated TV series that makes fun of the latest wave of sci-fi and fantasy icons, including the "Star Wars" prequels and "The Lord of the Rings." Brooks is busy on the film version of his Broadway hit "The Producers" until June, when he'll concentrate more fully on "Spaceballs."

Brooks and the original film's co-writer Thomas Meehan will produce the hour-long pilot and supervise the writing of the 13 half-hour episodes.

Brooks will return to voice two of the returning characters, President Skroob and Yogurt. MGM will distribute the series internationally with the exception of Germany.

I still strongly dislike the idea of using the Spaceballs characters to spoof not only Star Wars but also LOTR. That just doesn't make sense.
