[Rumor] Steam Controller Price Leaked. $99

Those latencies look pretty bad when compared to controllers like Dualsense, Xbox Series and 8 Bitdo Ultimate. That are all bellow 15ms even in Bluetooth mode.

That PowerA Battle Dragon must be doing something nice. But yea, Dualsense is the best in latency, I think the polling rate is 250 hz vs 125 hz for Series controllers.

I wonder if they can do anything to improve the latency via firmware updates. I have no idea how these things work.

You didn't realize that site is using a completely different methodology to test latency, compared to what GN is using?
That site you posted is only using checking latency from controller to PC.
The test GN did is testing from input to screen display. So it's a full system travel, significantly longer. And it's also more realistic, simply because it includes the whole system.

This product doesn't look bad but I dislike how it's pretty much locked to the Steam ecosystem. At least developers can add Dualsense support to their games on other stores.

Finished the GamerNexus review. I was already in but I like what I see and it being easy to open up and repair is a huge plus for me; I've taken my deck apart a few times and it was very easy to repair. Looking forward to their video on that topic.

Everybody complaining about PS controllers, but forgetting the Switch 2 pro controller is $90. That thing is overpriced.
And yet it continues to sell well with the vast majority of people buying it being extremely satisfied.

You want quality? It's not cheap.

they are all overpriced.

all first party controllers are overpriced af. especially if you remember that they all use shitty potentiometer sticks.

The methodology is not even comparable though. LDAT is something completely different. Total end to end system latency, click to photon. Unless those controllers would end in the same benchmark with gamers nexus, I fear it's comparing apples and oranges.

Ah right, half that. It seems much longer than that to me.

F310, Sidewinder, Gravis and a PS2 controller with a USB converter seemed the only decent controllers for PC around at the time. But I must be remembering that wrong because the 360 controller was pretty much the standard for PC not too long after it came out, so now I'm wondering when I even bought that thing. I'm too lazy to dig it up now and check the date.

Although lol, I think I don't even have the F310, I don't think my Logitech pad actually has 360 bean buttons, I think it's just the standard 1234 buttons of yesteryear. Jesus...why did I keep remembering it as the F310, guess it's because they look so similar...man I'm getting old....

But anyway, I don't think Logitech cares much about updating them. It was a super cheap and good controller when it came out back in the day and they haven't seen to update it even with all the controller upgrades that have come around. A number of cheapo Chinese controllers are just flat out better than it, it's why it's so weird to me that it's still around. Good sticks, buttons, and it feels sturdy and not cheap at least, more than I can say for most of the Chinese controllers.

Logitech has been making game pads since at least the early 2000's with the Wingman brand of gamepads. The Playstation 2 styled Dual Action gamepad replaced the Wingman in 2003-2004. They did actually license the Dual Shock 2 patent from Sony. There was also a Rumble Pad 2 with rumble support, a Wireless Rumblepad 2, the 'Chillstream'. which is a PC gamepad that has a fan in it that blows cool air out of the gamepad to keep your hands cool.

In 2010 the Dual Action line was replaced with the FX10 series of gamespads, that uses that official Microsoft Xinput API and are Xbox 360+ compliant. Logitech's gamepad is a weird amalgamation of the Playstation 2 pad and the Xbox 360 pad. I have probably owned like 4-5 of them, and they always break down the exact same way for me. With the USB cord becoming frayed and it just stops working. I haven't purchased a Logitech gamepad since 2015 or so. I only have a couple 8bitdo gamepads right now. The f310 isn't really a bad gamepad outside of the USB wire problem. It is a continual 'cheap' go-to seller. But I feel like 8bitdo and GameSir has really taken over this space from Logitech. Both 8bitdo and GameSir have controllers that are targeted for the $25 to $30 dollar range which contain much more modern features.

Must be tarrif because it's 149.99$ plus taxes
in Canada ? if thats the price here I am out.

I am already enjoying my Gameisr G7 pro 8k Aimlabs edition. which is better than Steam controller already.

I just wanted one because I am building a mini itx steam machine ( well.. technically way more powerful than a steam machine but has steam OS in it ) and i kinda wanted to use a steam controller with it. but i aint paying 180$ after taxes for it.
