what about the 2 8's?

If they were 10s, you might have a point, though I'd question the disparity. It's a From property, so it's not as if I had any high expectations.

Looking at the Kessen III score looks like Koei is putting that Dynasty Warriors money to good use! :P

Koei USA is giving us Three Kingdoms overload again in one small time frame! Both Kessen III and Dynasty Warriors 5 are due to come out in March 2005. Which is fine by me as I'll pick them both up!

Kessen III, Dynasty Warriors 5, and Jade Empire in the same month! Good times coming!

What are the Kessen games like? I've always loved Koei's unique games, but I never really got into Kessen.

Explain to me the Dynasty Warriors love. The plaudits it's reaped confound me to no end. Is repetitive, hackeneyed gameplay set against barren backgrounds really that interesting? DW is soooo overrated; it's ugly and dull.

I have too many time consuming, thinking games as it is. Whacking away at thousands of enemies and controlling the battlefield with my badass warrior in bursts is pure, exhilirating fun. I can be a stat whore at times when games let me level up and I exploit it to the full potential in Dynasty Warriors. One of the main reasons I didn't like Samurai Warriors as much as Dynasty Warriors is that damn Level 20 cap. While the story is always disjointed in the games, I do enjoy going through the same battles through the perspective of another side.

But I may not be the best authority to talk about Kessen series. I rented Kessen and Kessen II. From what I remember Kessen was pretty much a slower strategy style game in the vein of an RTS (Remember much slower paced!) where you postion your troops in battle around a big map. Kessen II took this style and gave it a more action packed slant. I remember being able to switch generals on the fly and you can hack and slash up close ala dynasty warriors. But you didn't have nearly as many moves. My newfound love in the strategy genre with Rome: Total War has me interested in how Kessen III is shaping up.

DW is one of the best quick action games this gen. It's repetetive as hell, but i still spent hours and hours slashing my way through enemies, although i almosty only played 2P Co-Op. Don't know if 1P is as much fun.

What is Kessen? I never heard about that game before. If it's anything like DW or SW, +1 sales.

Even though I wouldn't call Kessen or Kessen II full scale strategy games, they do lean way more heavily to the strategy side than Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors. Kessen II blurred the gap a little more to the action side. While DW4: Empires blurred the gap a little more to the strategy side. I still really don't know much about Kessen III, but I figure these two series (Kessen/DW) will eventually merge into one big huge strategical beat 'em up. That's my dream!

MWC complaints were same as with Otogi games; game is hard, missions can be repetetive, and some control/camera problems I think, basically they gave it same score as Otogi 2 and we know F***ING GREAT THAT GAME WAS!! ...for some.

Hard to believe yoge got this good of a score:
Lord of the Rings: The 3rd Age (EA) - 9, 7, 8, 7 - (31/40)
Especiallay considering it's getting those scores stateside. There's normally the 1-2 point deduction off the top for being yoge, isn't there? :D

It's also derivative crap, the kind of stuff some random net idiots could put together if they got access to the FFX source code, image and sound ripping tools and the LotR DVDs...

MWC's score isn't bad IMO. It's from FROM, so I don't know how anyone would expect high-high scores from the game.

I'm far more tolerant of Japanese developed mediocrity anyway.

Man, fuck GT4.

I'm really pissed at that game and Sony in general. I should be playing that game right now. New wheel and all.

Ummm...Kessen III is based on Japanese history actually...

i think metal wolf chaos will be my first xbox import. it isn't even announced for us release yet, is it? maybe sega will bring it over.

Acting like Famitsu scores have any relevancy to a title's quality is so 1999.

HELLO, THE COMPANIES READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE THE MAGAZINE SHIPS, AND THEY MAKE "SUGGESTIONS."

Does MWC have live support? Deathmatch etc?

XBN had an interview with the producer of the game in their December issue, which addressed a few things about the game. Apparently, the Japanese version will support downloads for new weapons and new background music, along with a high score board. Live play (1 on 1 online battles) will be included for the US release of the game which is slated to ship in Spring 2005 with an unknown US publisher.
