Sales-Age: NBA Street

Out of curiousity, what are the sales numbers for NBA Street V3 for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox? Also, for another comparison, what are the sales for NBA Street V2 on the three consoles?

I'd just like to see whether this Mario whoreage is actually having an effect on sales.

I think there was already a post about this a while back, and it didn't help GC sales. But Soul Calibur 2 was helped by Link, so it works and doesn't work.

Then again, NBA Street still could have sold better than it would have, even if it wasn't the biggest selling version.

NPD LTDs:

NBA Street V2

PS2 Total $50,670,101 1,325,161
XBX Total $16,153,512 467,112
GCN Total $9,357,589 324,991

NBA Street V3

PS2 Total $17,580,815 359,056
XBX Total $9,008,836 184,276
GCN Total $7,138,681 144,816

Same here, too much focus on tricks instead of scoring and winning. Hopefully they go back to the basics with NBA Street 4 Next Gen.

I didn't care for the new double-toss, triple-player GameBreaker dunks. The stuff from V2 was better and generally cooler to watch.

I didn't think it was that bad, just not as good as V2, which is my favorite bball game this gen (and top 3 of all time). But DM hit it on the head, too much emphasis on tricks.

Wow, looks like Mario and Co. had little to no effect on sales. I'd wager that Little Mac in Fight Night for GameCube had the same outcome?

NBA Street 3 bomba.

Game sucked so I'm not surprised.

NBA Street PSP >>> NBA Street 3

EA Big need to get back to what made volume 2 great.

Kinda kills that 'Nintendo chars. sell' line of thinking for SCII.

First 3 months totals of each game:

wow that's interesting,

PS2 off 45%
Xbox off 5%
GC up 80%

the GC version's outpacing sales of Vol 2 by almost 2 to 1, no wonder EA's continuing to use Mario

As Link 316 pointed out, what are you talking about? The PS2/Xbox versions of NBA Street 3 sales both took tumbles compared to NBA Street 2 after the first 3 months of sales while the GCN version nearly doubled in sales.

Just because the GC version didn't sell the best doesn't mean Nintendo characters didn't help.

It probably would have sold even worse.

I think it's fair to say that Nintendo fans have an equally strong loathing of EA. I'm sure more than a few people are waiting for a price drop.
