Fresh out the can. I get mine in water. Usually Chicken of the Sea brand, and I'll stock up if they're on sale or something. Drain the water, add some yellow mustard or Texas Pete and you got some good eatin'

ONLY THE VERY BEST

High in Omega 3s so they're awesome for your heart, and hook you up phat on that protein, B12, Calcium tip.

Hell yeah, here's to you, sardines!

Sardines with mustard over good stone wheat crackers, not a bad lunch in a pinch 👍 I have like tons of them but I don't eat them much, I think of it like a survival food lol, but they are actually good.

Sardines are pretty much comman man food in the Philippines.

You can have them for breakfast or any other meal time of the day. Or have them with bread or rice. They're pretty versatile.

I remember I used to eat them straight from the can as a kid. Will try again.

Great for a lite snack or lunch too.
Throw a can on a bed of greens and squeeze a lemon and you have a quick meal that's healthy any time of the day.

They're good boneless and skinless. Like a much better tuna.

While we're at it, anchovies are an underrated pizza topping that are getting harder to find. It's not something you might want on every pizza but every now and then it hits the spot.

One of my go to breakfasts is Sardines (in olive oil) with leafy vegetables, avocado, sun dried tomato, danish feta and cucumber. Sooo yum.

Are those sardines gutted and cooked? My knowledge of sardines comes strictly from 80 year old cartoons and I thought they were always served as tiny whole fish, head and all the guts included.

Completely intact. I like to put a straw down their throat and suck the guts out. Feels good man.

Disgusting, even vile! But whenever I hear "Sardine" I have to laugh because of that brilliant sequence in "The Burbs".

I'll tell ya what, at least someone finally used underrated properly. You could've gotten away with throwing a 'highly' in there

Yeah sardines with tomato sauce or hot sauce are great.

Though personally I like anchovies better

In water AND Chicken of the Sea? My man, get yourself some King Oscar brand in oil.

I had a 89 year old patient who is the only person I've known to come off a ventilator after contracting Sars Cov 2 and make a meaningful recovery. Anyway he had stacks and stacks of sardines in his room and would offer them as snacks to all staff members that worked with him. I found it very bizarre at the time but now I am certain they were a key part of his recovery. Personally though, keep the can closed and let me die with a peaceful scent in the room.
