Currently playing through Returnal and I think Saros is a day 1 for me.

Same. Nobody makes the games like Housemarque. You can FEEL the gameplay flow and ride along with it, incredible feeling with absolute gameplay feedback. Very, very few games are these snappy and fair.

I'm not saying it about "Housemarque games". I'm saying it about Saros, which looks like a Yotie, Forbidden West, Miles Morales type sequel.

When did we start expecting reboots instead of sequels as the norm?

Uncharted 3 and 4 were that for Uncharted 2. Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 were that. Jak 3 was that for Jak 2. Dont get me started on every Ratchet game...and i never even heard a single complain from that IP for being "the same" since the PS2 era.

Not all sequels are created equal.

KCD to KCD2 feels like a proper sequel.
Hideo Kojima made a bunch of proper sequels.

Madden 2023 to Madden 2024. Unacceptable!
Zero Dawn to Forbidden West. Unacceptable!

Saros, at this point, looks way too samey. As always, I'd love to be wrong.

None of those games appealed to me. I think Jak 1 to Jak 2 was a legit jump though. Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 as well.

Zero Dawn to Forbidden West. Unacceptable!

Why this sequel was unacceptable? I think It improved from the PS4 release, I could never get into the game until the remaster on PS5. You can swim, dive and fly with a machine. More enemies, the story is good enough for me, conversations are prettier and more engaging, it continues the story from previous game. Characters are varied in personality and the voice acting is good to great. Graphical Fidelity is amazing!
I know this is a Saros thread, so, I wont discuss it further but, I'm just curios.

I'm also surprised by most comments in here. I actually created the topic because I thought everyone liked Returnal and many in here even say its Sony's best game this gen. Weren't there complains about Sony not releasing a lot of games and exclusives as well? This feels like it checks all boxes.

Some still do. I'm looking forward to this personally. Housemarque usually delivers when it comes to gameplay.

I do believe that some people have conditioned themselves to just hate games in general. They cry about not wanting GAAS from Sony. Sony says fine, here is a brand new single player IP. Then they hate that too. Basically it's not going to matter what Sony releases, single player or multiplayer. They'll find an excuse to hate it.

Returnal wasnt a best seller either and it doesnt stop that game from being amazing
