Can't hurt right? ;-P

A friend of mine asked me to post this here for him as he doesn't have an account.

I guess slashdot told him that they'd see to it he is /.'d if he garners 1,000 signatures. I suppose if something like that happens, it is worth it...

Hey guys,
Andy from http://www.GamerAndy.com, just wanted to let everybody know that we're starting a grassroots movement to tell Attorney Jack Thompson and Hillary Clinton to go bug someone else and stop trying to ban games to save us from ourselves.

Check it out over at http://www.gamerandy.com It's the featured story right now, links should be up on monday.

Thanks in advance!

-Andy

No, I'd rather not let little kids get there hands on inappropriate games. Seriously, are you guys underaged or something?

The thing that bothers me the most is that developers should be able to make whatever they want. If parents buy stuff like Grand Theft Auto for their kids, it's their own decision, no matter how bad that decision may be.

he also asked me to post this for him for those who don't know what is going on...

Mr. Thompson is an attorney from Florida who for the past few years has made it his mission in life to try to censor videogames out of existence. The "Hot Coffee" thing is his first victory in that time, but he's filed countless lawsuits against game companies for their "Adverse Impact" on children, and sued Rockstar numerous times after representing kids who commited a crime and blamed it on GTA
And recently ex-first lady Senator Hillary Clinton kicked it up a notch by throwing in her hat and calling for a "Investigation" of this. It's bullshit and we're sick of it.

They say they're doing this "For the kids" and "In the best interest of the country" but it's all posturing fluff, basically they're getting media attention for attacking videogames.

It's just what you do

So we're gonna send this petition to them all when we get enough signatures and let them no that No, it's not okay to step on videogames to advance their personal career goals.

i'm all down for keeping these politicans from interferring with our games, but a petition ain't gonna do shit.

usually that is true. but I've seen those moveon.org petitions get on TV when they've reached 100,000 sigs a couple times.

oh well...don't crush the poor guys spirit. :lol

One time in elementary school I started a petition to get rid of the substitute teacher because she wouldn't let us have gym class... it got like 15 signatures before it was confiscated

The sooner he learns that politicians simply don't care, the better.
