Native DS carts aren't big enough, and of course you hit a bigger 'target' when you make it for the GBA as well. 1MILLION UNITS IN NOVEMBER! REMEMBER? NEARING 80MILLION SOLD :lol

By big, I mean physical size. There's no space to fit a SD slot.

No. PSP plays media. This thing is also designed to play media. Who knows, That post was for fun, not serious at all.

And yes, I'm kind of certain that this would be used in a way Nintendo did not originally intend to in the future, if they're not careful.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the SongPro -- at e3 2003, I spoke with the SongPro guy... the GBA version of the SongPro MP3 WAS the same size as a GBA cart, with a mic jack on it. It looked very similar to Nintendo's device. I was surprised, as it was housed in a -real- GBA cart... he said that Nintendo was working with them now.

I didn't see them at e3 this year, and I assumed it had fizzled... however, perhaps it didn't.

Would love something like this for ds, the ds sound sooo much better and the screen lighting is way better then gba sp.

Gamefront says "ability to play MPEG4 and MP3 files on SD carts in GBA, GBA SP and DS". Just to get even with Sony for introducing open media standards to the handheld console industry.
