So, tonight is pretty damn cool, and I'll tell you all why:

7pm -- The Vells are performing and signing their new album at Sonic Boom Records in Ballard. It's free, come on by!

9pm -- The Wrens are playing at the Crocodile Cafe for a 21+ audience. $10.

Anyone going? I know there are good number of Seattle-area people on here.

damn it the wrens are tonight :(

shit.

just got an email about pearl jam playing the showbox, but it was for $40.

I heard about the Pearl Jam show the other day, I saw them at the Moore years and years ago, that was good enough for me.

So I take it you can't go to The Wrens show? Damn, I was totally psyched about a possible Seattle OT meet up.

Vells and The Wrens tonight, cannot wait!

Sorry, duder, I have work tonite. I took off for the show last night. Which was hot, hot, hawt. I wasn't expecting the Decemberists or Deerhoof to be THAT good. The whole crowd was singing along to like every old Decemberists song.

And Satomi from Deerhoof is the cutest chick ever.

I knew you had to work tonight, thought maybe some of the others would be going.

Glad to hear the show last night was “hawt,” I was laying on the couch falling asleep while Em was enthralled by The Apprentice (she works for a big corporation). The Decemberists have a wonderful following in Washington and Oregon. They're absolutely amazing live, and really nice people. Collin even commented on my fashion sense at Sasquatch, which I thought I was damn cool.

There was no Tain, though. It was mostly happier stuff. They did 3 new songs and the new single. Highlight of the set for me was either The Chimney Sweep, A Cautionary Song, or I was Meant for the Stage.

Xiu Xiu's setlist was something like:
Bog People (new song)
Crank Heart
I Broke Up (the part you KNOW I'm thinking of was really awesome)
Apistat Commander
Clowne Towne
Shut up, Shut up (new song)
I Love the Valley OH!

There's one or two I'm forgetting.

There was also a fifth band, The Punks, fronted by Slim Moon, he apparently threw the band together like the day before the show. He was bragging that they'd never played or practiced together before. It was rather amusing and silly atmospheric music using lots of toys and toy instruments. The lyrics were pretty insane.

That SO would've been worth feeling even more exhausted today at work.

One of the guys in the band was slapping a guitar with a dildo. It was exquisite.

OH SHUT UP SHUT UP that was the new song he played. i must have that.

You should find an mp3 of Bog People, too. Depending on how the recording works out, it has the potential to be the next big Xiu Xiu song.

I'M TRYING AS FAST AS I CAN

As long as you aren't from Southern California, we welcome you :D

Born and raised in Washington. I’ve been all over the world, and I can’t think of anywhere else I’d want to spend my life. Well, I will be living in England for four years in a couple years, but I’m sure as hell coming back to the Seattle area.

Jherek from Xiu Xiu/The Dead Science works at a record store about 2 blocks away from me. I find that fact insanely cool.

That's pretty awesome, man. Sonic Boom? Every Day Music?

God damn this new Vells album is amazing...

I need to get to that Sonic Boom vinyl shop in Fremont. I dunno, it's probably good that I haven't been there. I'm completely addicted to cheap vinyl.

I had to go to Fremont the other day for work, so I stopped in at the shop before heading back (hey, it was my lunch break), I'm sure you'd have a heart attack. I love 7" singles, but that's about it.
