Man, I'm still into this album. For some reason, I just discovered the track Growing on Me. The song rocks. Before all I listened to was Called Love and Only a Feeling. It seems like after Called Love wore off everyone ditched this band like a bad habit. It may be an album based on a gimmick, and the lyrics are rather weak but it is still pretty rockin'.

The mix I've had running during my (awful) daily commute has consisted of songs from Thursday War all the Time, The Killers Hot Fuss, The Darkness PTL, and some random 80's songs (including The Outfield, Your Love, damn you GTA VC).

My car cd mix includes:

The Killers - Hot Fuss (TWINS!), Radiohead - The Bends (Best Album) Frou Frou - Details

Death Cab for Cutie - Transantlanticism (Best Album I THINK), Wicker Park Soundtrack (l33t)

Eh, not bad. I still love 'um. My friends at least have seemed to dismiss The Darkness as a quick one hit wonder or something.

Bad end.

Or Bad Friends??

I love The Darkness. Easily one of my favorite albums of last year. It would be easy to dismiss them as a gimmick band just because of the guy's vocals, but these guys can really friggin' play. And the lyrics for Growing On Me are great if you know if what it's really about. It's even better if you hear it before knowing, and then find out, and then listen again.

Damn straight.

Hey, I've probably caught the most shit for liking them when they FIRST came out. Now, a good majority of the forum loves them. I'm a trend setter.

I still like them. They just clearly don't take themselves seriously, and that's cool with me.

I am getting tired of the same old songs, though. They need a new album.

aweful band, horrendous. ironic, cause i like most other 80's revival bands like the killers, the sounds, action action, franz ferdinand, the faint, the organ (i love them, easily my fav album in years) etc. the darkness is just reaaaaaally bad as far as im concerned.

That's cause they're more of a '70s revival band.

franz ferdinand[...] is 80's? I'm not following.

A lot of Franz Ferdinand sounds like early to mid-career Talking Heads to me. "Tell Her Tonight" may as well be a Talking Heads song, e.g.
