It always sucks when companies do this
Just leave the old versions up, release the new compilation, and give people a choice

I have the Genesis collection, so I am good. Wonder what they have cooking to replace it?

Jet Set Radio Duology would be cool.

There's logic there, but I can't see it

The only two I don't have that I kinda want are Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi. I haven't picked up Crazy Taxi because this is the version without licensed music, but I believe there's a mod for that.

Only games I’m missing that I’d care about at Crazy Taxi, Shadow Dancer, and Shinobi 3. Realistically I’ll never play them as I don’t even play the ones I’ve got.

Steam delists used to really piss me off. My account is from November 2003 so pretty much been there from the begining. I have nearly every important game that got delisted. Chronicles of Riddick, Prey, original versions of tons of remasters etc. But these? I find it really hard to care about these. If it's something I can emulate the true original versions of, then I just don't see the point in these ports. I get why THEY want them on steam and good for them, but for me as a consumer I just don't see a reason to care.

Thanks Sega!

Can you just jump into phantasy star IV or are they all connected and true sequels?

I never play any of them , shining force, or golden axe. Wasn’t sure if I should maybe scoop something up or not.

Tangentially connected, but you can very well jump into it and enjoy it. Whatever previous franchise backstory is needed, the game gives it to you itself as needed.

I played it before any of the other games and it was perfectly fine. Having prior knowledge will just make you understand the references being made a bit better.

I have a pretty good collection of delinted games on my Steam account at this point. The last Sega Genesis/ MD collection was neat, but the emulation had a lot to be desired. Perhaps Sega is planning some sort of new batch of collections? They are also de-listing the so-called "Dreamcast collection", which includes Crazy Taxi (PC port), Sonic Adventure DX (Not a Dreamcast game), Space Channel 5 (old PC port), Jet Set/ Grind Radio (2012 PC port), and NiGHTS (A Saturn port).

So that means no one going forward should be able to buy them?

There's logic there, but I can't see it

I mean... at least on PC... who cares? you can easily emulate all of them on anything that has a screen, often at superior quality.

when it comes to such old games, the only one who loses with delisting is the publisher. I have long stopped giving a shit. if they don't want the money, it's their loss 🤷
takes me 10min to have all these games loaded onto my Steam Deck if I wanted to. if they officially sell them to me or not isn't my issue, it's theirs.

...but, I already own most of these on Steam to be fair lol, and some on Xbox too

I still play crazy taxi regularly to this day, it’s still in library right? Just delisted new sales?
Yup basically. I haven't touched any of my Sega collection games on Steam in a long time. I have every title for the Genesis collection, as well as the Dreamcast collection. But I prefer playing these games on other emulators. I'm sure people with Steamdecks might still play some of these, though.

No need to worry about this, got the physical collection on Switch 💪 but delisting games fucking sucks. Publishers needs to keep em for sale even when new collections release. It's the same thing with remakes and remasters. Don't try to hide the original game just because a shinier version is available. It's straight up bullshit.

Delisting the top notch M2 compilations on Xbox.

What a fantastic move, well done SEGA !

There's no other way I could play a classic like Daytona USA on a modern console.
The game has been available on Xbox BC for years though.

There were ports of Daytona USA released for PSN and Xbox 360 (XBLA) quite a while back. I am pretty sure that the PSN port is still available. But the XBLA version doesn't seem to be sold seperatly anymore. Is it part of a bundle?

Very true, but quite a few people don't understand even the basics of how to do it. They'll always understand money though and buying things, which is why I'll always find it odd they delist this stuff. Just have it up, someone will buy it

Well I'm the same :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I made a joke to my wife the other week. We were watching some crime thing where they found loads of HDD's of disgusting stuff stuck behind wardrobes etc of this utter sick bloke. I turned to her and said, shit, if anything happens to me all you'll find is hundreds off HDD's, full of roms :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Maybe I should stick some to the back of wardrobes, just to trip people out..

..And before anyone moans, I've bought these games too, going back 40 years.

I'm a game hoarder.

My guess, they're going to re-release the stuff with a Capcom Arcade Stadium type client. Sell the games individually for 2 bucks and in bundles.

You can add roms easy to Sega Genesis Collection on Steam. It also has a VR mode where you can play the games in a 90s Sega fanboy kids room. Kinda unique.

It's likely, as that exactly happened with Sonic games in the past. Still, crazy to see all of this being delisted.
I don't know if it's all of it, they said the bundle is going and some of the games in the bundle.

There is a calculus on some of these games where the support no longer becomes worth the meager trickle of income. Crazy Taxi and JSR in particular probably have ongoing music rights costs and any PC port has the cost of maintaining compatibility with new OS and driver updates.

Probably delisted, like all the other games in this thread in the near future. But it was available for a very long time.

It was a XBLA title so not that easy to purchase (those games are not present in the new web store) and completely not possible now with the 360 store closed down.
360 games that are BC are available on the modern store. The store was only closed for 360 consoles.

But Daytona was delisted anyway. However you can still buy many 360 games directly on xbox.com, in the modern store.

I have these games on steam and switch as well as a lot of the original games and couldn’t tell you the last time I played any of them. Weird to delist them though. Imagine there will be a new collection eventually.

lol... good idea, I think I have a super old HDD lying around somewhere still with a full MAME set from around 2010... I should scribble some cryptic shit on it and hide it :pie_roffles:

I wonder with Sega bringing back certain ip's if they want to get rid of the Genesis/some Dreamcast only games branding and want to rebrand it as more inclusive Sega history spanning collection. Perhaps they will make a collection that includes Master System games as well. Maybe even go back further and translate some of the prior Master System era games. They have Dreamcast, Game Gear (on certain consoles of the past anyway), and are only missing Saturn, but seeing how far the state of emulation has come in that respect maybe they have something cooking for that as well.

Other than that, I wonder how they feel about how on Steam one can literally mod the shit out of the Sega Collection on the Steam Workshop and have practically have every Genesis game available in every language with almost infinite mods. Nearly 6000 mods in the workshop.
