Shigeru Miyamoto in New York

Running off of Custom Firmware
Hey folks. Dunno if it's been posted yet. But Mr. Miyamoto himself will make a guest appearance at the Nintendo World store in the Rockefeller Plaza (NYC) on Sunday, September 25th, from 11am to 1pm.

First 200 to be there will be able to greet him and get an autograph. There is no sign up, first come, first serve!

:D

Edit - Will be my first time meeting him! Details @ http://www.nintendoworldstore.com/

Hmm, I'll have to consider going to this. Gotta bring something to get signed... But the lines will probably be ridiculous!

Guaran-fucking-teed. :)

I wish I could drive...well even if I could drive I probably wouldnt drive to New York city...shit, South Jersey to New York City. I hate buses.

We should have a GAF meet-up.

Also, any suggestions on what Nintendo-related but non-game items would be good for autographing?

Edit - A GBMicro, perhaps?

Okay, I want to know why the fuck there isn't a Nintendo World Store in L.A. for Miyamoto to go to. And of course for me to go to as well.

In other words, I am really freaking envioius of anybody who is within driving distance of the NWS. Well, this is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity. L.A. area GAF members got to meet Kojima and Shinkawa. N.Y. GAF members get to meet Miyamoto. Fair trade off.

I live in Brooklyn. I can hop on a train and be over there in 20-some-mintues. I don't think I'm gonna bother to go though. :)

Don't you all remember when Britney Spears had a public event like that at a Virgin's overseas, during her heyday, Shiggy went to the same store a short while later and had like 5 times the turnout?

All the more reason for me not to go. I don't have anything to get signed anway... maybe my copy of Ikaruga, but that's it. =P

I think id bring my GC broadband adaptor for him to sign. That way it would be good for somthing

Hmmm See the Dalai Lama at Rutgers, or see Shigeru Miyamoto in the Nintendo World Store. Decisions decisions :lol .

Damn straight. :D

Throwing people into fans and incinerators with conductor-like movements would be awesome.

If I'd known earlier, I'd have saved money for a hotel. I'd probably get there sometime saturday and wait in line so I wouldn't have a problem meeting him.

Virgin in Oxford Street - London... yea I remember.
I got there expecting to be one of the first and there were already 1000 people infront of me. :(

I got to meet him a long time ago when he came down to London, was a good experience........ Let me tell you this though, there was well over 200 people (including me) there by 7am........ And ermmmm he wasn't gunna be there until like the 12. :-/

He ended up staying to sign a lot more peoples stuff then he was meant to though.... Got through everyone in the end. :)

I just got back from the NWS during my lunch break.

Bad news for me. I won't be able to meet Miyamoto afterall.

They are expecting 2500-5000 people to show up, and people will start lining up before store closing on Saturday, and just camp out overnight. Nintendo World Store employees and Rockefeller Center security are coordinating to set up the lines and overnight camp out. It'll be impossible to show up anytime Sunday morning and still expect to be part of the first 200 that will be meeting Miyamoto (let alone the first 10 that'll swap Nintendogs data with him.)

I have a bachelor party (my brother's) to attend Saturday night, so there's no hope for me.

Nintendo will be purchasing 200 pizzas to distribute to those lined up. 75 will be handed out Saturday night, and the remaining 125 throughout the day Sunday. According to the employee I spoke with, this will be free of charge.

Also, Nintendo will try to arrange pre-signed (by Miyamoto) swag to purchase, for those that won't be able to secure autographs of their own. The loot will likely not be very cheap.

Feck. I'm really disappointed.

Edit - Some people will be hovering at the store as early as TODAY, even though officially, Nintendo won't be allowing lines to start forming until around closing of the store tomorrow, Saturday evening.

Uhm... why are you complaining? we get E3.. and Miyamoto tends to walk around on the show floor on the last day just to watch people play games. I met him at E3 2001 and nobody else even seemed to notice him!

Gamers, man -- gamers.

When people line up to meet Michael Jordan, you don't go "These Bulls fans are amazing."

True, I suppose, plus I've learned that anything that's free in NYC prompts lines so ungodly that you're better off just paying for whatever's being given away.

F yeah. It's worth it for the free pizza!!1

When I get a chance to get him to sign something, it will be one of my arcade marquees... either Donkey Kong, DK Jr., or Mario Bros.
