They should really get rid of the sun sensor element. I like the game, but needing the sun to be out to play it is a pretty huge buzzkill, and I don't blame people for being hesitant to try it because of that. It was a cool idea in theory, but people want to be able to play games whenever they feel like it.

i'm halfway through the first game and had little real need for the sun. Even when i did, i could just hold my hand outside the door or sit by a window in the sun and get all i need. i think it was a pretty cool idea, and the game is designed so that you don't have to have sunlight, it just makes the game more strategic without it.

I bought the first game because I enjoy trying new things and it was ultra-cheap afterall, but I never could get into it.

I found the isometric perspective and controls to be clunky, the sun sensor element to be annoying, and some of the gameplay mechanics really bothered me. (Piledriver or whatever the vampire killing circle was called).

I know this game flopped hard in the US but it must've done well overseas if they're making another one.

No offense, if you love the game, BTW, it just wansn't for me.

Nope, Boktai's flopped hard everywhere. Even that cameo in Rockman.EXE hasn't helped. :/

Kojima's pretty much only making them because he wants to. They're excellent games though, and probably on the cheap side to make thanks to shared art and engine between the sequels.

I've really really enjoyed every singe Boktai very much ... The sun element is stressfull, but you can get good chunks of the game done without the sun.

That being said, Boktai is really too robust of a game to attract people when it has the solar element ... Think Zelda: minish cap or Castlevania:AOS (The Boktai games are that large) only with some device (more emmersive) but can halt your gameplay at moments.
A sun sensor would be better suited for something quick like Wario Ware.

I'm still waiting for something to come along for the game, and benefit you in ways while you're in the dark ... Something to even it all out, and make you wanna get in the sun for additions, or 'bonuses' ...

I'm still a kid at heart, I like new things so I've enjoyed each Boktai .. But I can understand why most people would just want a more traditional experience.

But if you're thinking of trying Boktai II, it's great and the melee weapons / experience are much more fun.

Boktai 2 is awesome, I love it. Much better than the first. I'm surprised this isn't on the DS, however.

How would they implement the sun-sensor into a DS cart? They'd probably take it out, which I suppose wouldn't hurt the series. Games with guys that carry coffins are cool.

Maybe they can find a way to do something with the touchscreen, if it's heat sensitive or anything. Anyway, I have no further interest in this game because it's never fucking sunny in Indianapolis except in late summer, but it's nice to seem make another one for its audience

The sun sensor could plug into the GBA slot...
