WC is just a handful of games. People give too much importance to it when it comes to the Ballon D'Or. There's already an award given to the best player of the WC and Messi won it. Ronaldo's form, even with his injuries, has been great this past year. Messi came close, but Ronaldo was better this year not only in La Liga but in the CL. Messi's recent records don't count for this year's Ballon D'or.
