Should I get SC: CT for PS2

psycho_snake

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
Unfortunately I dont have an Xbox and I have to resort to the PS2 or GC. I have SC and SC: PT for PS2 and like them very much. With those two games, the difference in the score between the PS2 version and the Xbox version have not been too big, but this time round it seems to be different, the differnce is pretty big. Ive enjoyed the previous games very much and have found very few problesmw ith them, so willl I enjoy this one or is SC: CT really not very good on PS2?

The problem is that this time around the PS2 got a really gimped version of the multiplayer, featuring visuals that are much worse than the single player game and 4 extra maps to make up for this fact. But the Xbox has new mechanics and uses the redone visual engine, so the difference is super clear.

That said, I'd get the game on PC if you couldn't get it on Xbox.

But if your PC sucks shit, then I don't see the harm in getting the PS2 version. The single player probably kicks ass all the same, and it DOES have that exclusive move...

if you don't have the money for an xbox, then yeah. but if you can get an xbox, then no. it's better on xbox and there are plenty of great xbox games besides this to warrant it's purchase.

ps2 version is not bad either (or so i heard). just not as great as the xbox one, which it was lead platform for this game, so it makes sense.

lastly, i think you should ignore that "get it on the pc advice". this game is much much better on a console imo.

please explain why it's "so much better on a console". Do not use things such as "I don't like keyboard + mouse" or "I have a shite videocard" to support your argument.

The PC version visually looks the best I think, SM3.0 + HDR + Soft Shadows is a sight to behold, especially running at a high res and such. The mouse + keyboard thing never bothered me for this game, especially since using the mousewheel to control run speed is very precise in certain situations.

That said, UBIsoft decided to use Starforce copy protection, which installs low level drivers on your system that may screw it up big time. Your mileage may vary here.

The coop play on the PC version is also extremely sensitive to connection problems and very crash prone.

My PC sucks and the only games I can play on a PC are FPS, strategy games and tetris, so i think i will stick with the PS2 version.

amirox - the multiplayer is severely gimped on xbox by comparison too.

the multiplayer VS mode uses pandora tomorrow engine...

wtf? Not according to OPM!

the game is running 2 engines... the chaos theory engine and the pandora tomorrow engine.

This should be for all platforms.

So when you compare Chaos theory single player/co-op against VS mode in any version of the game.... it's like 2 different games.

On Xbox I hate the VS mode because the Pandora Tomorrow engine/maps/effects/lighting looks SO BASIC in comparison to Chaos Theory. It's like playing 2 different games.
