Sticking the 360 in a cupboard seems reasonable if you are using it twice a year. If you using it that sparingly, it better be something with a nice aesthetic and consoles aren't that.

Imagine being in a relationship where your partner actively deters you from doing what makes you happy.

Extremely unhealthy.
Not really, the other way to look at it is the partner trying to make you diversify a bit. Having three consoles is overkill, with only exclusives and the length of a video game nowadays you don’t have time for anything else. Now that’s unhealthy.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
If your significant other is trying to dictate how you partake in your hobby then that person needs to no longer be your significant other. The point of having such a person in your life is that they make you happy and leave you fulfilled as a person. They are not supposed to limit you or dictate to you how you live your life.

There is a reason why they are called "Partners" and not "Owners".

Now, we don't want to mess up the good folk over at The Grauniad's poll, so keep voting to here. Or don't.
I actually agree with the girlfriend on this one, although if I were in this situation I'd buy them all on principle.

Edit: actually readin it one of the consoles is a 360. Then an xbox one, and now he wants a new gen thing. That's three concoles over the course of about 15 years. That's absolutely reasonable.

To be fair, she's complaining about the space they take up.

Then again, the space around the TV, where they have their wi-fi router for some bizarre reason.

Just buy a cupboard or something, you silly bitch. Put the two consoles that aren't being used in there and keep the third one out. It takes thirty seconds to unplug one and plug in another. This isn't a drama, Bryony.

Max has a 360, an Xbox 1 and now wants a Series X/S or a PS5.

If he's keeping hold of the 360 for guitar hero only, then get a Series X/S and dump the Xbox 1. I can't see any reason to keep the 1 if he's considering getting then X or S.

That's three separate generations. It's not like having a Switch, PS5 AND a XSX

I get it. I have a ton of consoles but only one on the main tv in the living room. It’s a space thing. Gotta compromise

What if I told them Guitar Hero will work on a modern console with a little connection converter box. I have done it, you can too.

Brony and Max a love story for the ages.

Yeah she doesn't seem unreasonable. Box up the 360 and guitar controllers and shove them under the bed next to her box of crap that she doesn't need but can't throw away.

All just depends really; how financially secure are you? Is he a big provider? Do they have room?

I'm fucking rich and have a 2700 sq ft. house for just the 2 of us so if my wife acted like this she'd be served papers, but if I lived in a small apartment and was broke I'd never really expect a place full of game consoles unless I was with someone who loved games.

As it stands my wife herself plays videogames more than me, and "we" legit have like 20 game consoles in our house lol5

I was actually in a relationship like this a long time ago. It's abusive as fuck. She thought she could control everything. "You don't want to waste money on that!" "You're not buying that..." "You don't need this!".

Fuck off. Max should GTFO of that abusive relationship.

Some important details missing. But she certainly SOUNDS controlling as fuck, which would be enough for me to bail. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.
