Sideshows in the Bay Area

godhandiscen

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
So in the past few years a Fast & Furious lookalike car culture has taken over the Bay Area, and with the rise of the “Defund the Police” movement, they have completely taken over the streets. These car meetups are called Sideshows, and in some parts of the Bay Area they get pretty wild. Lately, some of the criminals that attend them have semi automatic weapons, which they use to spray into the sky; sometimes killing random people.

I live miles from these things, but often I get to hear the bullets, which I keep telling myself are fireworks only to find the next day through the Neighbors app that indeed they were bullets with some real casualties.

I have been considering selling my house, but then I look at this meme, and realize that going against the grain is perhaps the best option.

These dumbasses been watching too much Fast and the Furious.

Also was that a Miata? Hard to tell from the footage. Nothing says “We got a bad ass over here” like a tricked out Mazda Miata.

Miatas' are rad. They arent "tough guy" cars, but they are rad.

We have these in LA too, thankfully without the gun stuff.

Turns out when you show that you are weak on crime criminals commit more crime. Crazy concept. I thought they would appreciate the freedom law enforcement gives them as an act of good faith and reward society by turning away from crime.

Loud cars and bikes annoy me. That biker episode of South Park is cathartic. I hope they do one for these idiots next.

Sideshows were very commonplace circa 2006ish during the hyphy era. I remember driving home from Tahoe around that time and I had to stop off in Oakland to get some gas. Got back on the freeway and the other direction had traffic stopped with dudes on bikes doing wheelies and cars doing donuts.

Good times

Love your Miata. I have an NC, but it is a “weekend drive to the beach” ride. I don’t race it, but I like to baby it.
Thanks. That's my labor of love car, been a consistent project since I picked it up late '19, completely stock. Finally reaching the finish line with it.
