Hey guys. I love the site. You said that you were planning a big Silicon Knights update but I don't remember reading it. Did I miss it or did it fall through?

Matt responds: Still happening. Fran and I make a trip to Canada in February to spend a few days with the folks at Silicon Knights. We'll be talking with company president Denis Dyack on a number of subjects. You can look forward to handful of massive updates based on this visit. With any luck, I'll be able to fill you in on the details in late February. Stay tuned.
hmm, you'd have to think that SK would have something to show if both Matt and Fran are going to spend a few days up in that cold place (Canada).

THIS JUST IN

SOMETHING'S HAPPENING LATER

AGAIN

Heh, although this post isn't as bad as some that play into the hands of the PR perfectly. Whenever I read a post like, "On so and so website, they're claiming something big might happen within the next two years or so. Your thoughts?" I shake my head.

That said, I want my sequel to Eternal Darkness :(

Yeah, I just don't get it. What's the "mystery" about SK? Why they left Nintendo? Why they made such a lackluster remake of MGS? Why IGN is so hung-up on it? Just announce Nintendo gave Komani SK in return for MGS:TTS and DDR Mario already and be done with it.

As a Canadian and a gamer, I feel that SK deserves the attention. They are definitely one of the best Canadian game developers, and have served up some great entertainment. Even though their output is slow, their games have thus far ended up great.

Matt would've mentioned other editors, if other editors were going. Matt & Fran. Thing is, Fran runs insider, so he could be gathering news on the multiplatform stuff, while Matt is there to gather the news about the Nintendo exclusive stuff.

SK absolutely has more to give Nintendo. Nintendo saved them from a lifetime of obscurity. Helped them when they were in need. SK, and especially Dyack, understand the importance of that. Can't wait to see what they've been cooking up.

I propose that if you mention Matt from IGN in a thread, thats okay, but if you start a thread just to repeat something he wrote, it's a bannable offense. Or maybe we could make a separate forum for people who give a shit about him? Gaming Discussion, Off Topic, and Matt Says...

Seriously, I'm getting pissed off. Keep this crap out of the gaming forum.

I think Silicon Knights "were left" because
1. They spent much time on developing TTS, which was at the end nothing special
2. They didn't manage to finish Too Human

You cannot stop my 9th editorial of da day from appearing on your puny gaming forum and this and that. I .. am a machine and so on and dese things of dat nature.

On that note, does Matt have a blog, other than IGN?

hahaha.

Matt's the kind of guy who would walk around his house recording voice notes of himself just so he could listen to his own voice while typing one of his heralded editorials later on in the day. But like I already said, he reminds me of RL Stine, and that's always a good thing.

The pisser of the whole thing is this: If SK actually does show them what they've got in development, there's a real good chance it'll be shown under NDA. And then Matt will spend the next couple months hinting at how amazing it is and that when they're allowed to show it, it'll knock out socks off (A whopping 3 days before E3 begins).

Some schmuck in my class tells me that his uncle (who is involved in ALL things game related...whatever that means) told him that Silicon Knights and Nintendo never split and that they are still together. I told him no, and he says just wait and I'll see.

Soon after, his nose started bleeding...and my fists hurt.

While this thread is particularly worthless, not all Matt threads are. He's definitely the most open journalist out there; in the N-Query, he usually reveals some bit of information, while it may not be newsworthy (or confirmed), is interesting at the very least.

Frankly, those "Matt haters" are giving him more attention than the humans who just read him like everyone else.

I bet Dyack's pad has swords on the wall and shit. I mean, that just seems like something he'd have.

Surely, he also has some candles that he swears are from the "fuedal Japan era," and if he doesn't have a replica of a knight's armor, then I'll be sorely disappointed. I'm sure there are also books from Shakespeare, Plato, Aristotle, Socretes, etc. He probably can't even read this shit (except little excerpts he picks up off his quote-of-the-day e-mail service), but at least he has them.

If yall dont like these threads.... then stay away..... it's that simple... idiot..

Me personally, i hope they do show something.. I dont really care if i see it or not, cuz i need some more games to get me hyped up...

why? I hate Matt as much as the next guy, but it says right in the title "Matt C.". Don't like it, don't click on it. It can't be any worse than any of the other shit threads that are made on a daily basis around here.

If they're going to talk about an unannounced project that's for PS2 and xbox or PS3/xbox2, then why are Matt and Fran going?

Well, they do have a very good relationship with Denis and all.

we'd like to update you on the update that will be coming about the update to the announcement of the update to when the announcement for the update of SK's latest project will be

Silicon Knights mentioned in the IGNXbox mailbag.

The Color of Rogue
Any news on the Rogue Squadron games being ported to Xbox? The Xbox mailbag used to talk about it a lot.

No word yet. But hey, now that we know Factor Five and Silicon Knights are working on Xbox titles, why wouldn't they just go to the next level and make Xbox 2 games? I could easily see both developers coming out with games in the first year of the Xbox 2.

Hearing anything significant this early does not jive with what I've been told about SK's plans. In fact, I don't expect any announcements until after E3.

Take a close look (but not on Xbox.IGN...)and you'll see more. You know, it's Douglass. Factor 5 isn't working on Xbox games, I'm quite sure (they already said it).

So, why will Matt and Fran go to SK? They are writing for Cube.IGN. There are more simple signs. Simple, I said simple.

Factor 5 announced a long time ago (nearly a year) that they had moved onto next-gen hardware, so unless something's changed, they're certainly not working on Xbox titles. And who knows if they ever were.

Xenon, on the other hand, seems quite likely. I still have boasting rights if a Rogue Squadron Online turns up on Xbox live for Xenon. And if it doesn't...shhhhhhh.

Fran is Insider now, not Cube. And I imagine they really are going there just for the story on the split, though they might see things. Doubt they'll be allowed to talk about them if they do.

I know Shiggy.. the whole thing is really confusing! Denis needs to clear this up! :D

Can't wait for Matt's article. My expectations are super high! And E3 can't come soon enough either! I hope SK is there in some form.

I sincerely hope SK's make their announcement this February or else it will be like slap in face for the fans. We really want to know what they are doing!

Factor 5's working on a PSP game, not Xbox. The only thing they're doing for Xbox/Xenon right now is tools for XNA.

No idea about Silicon Knights. Don't really care though.

Nah I dunno. They must still have something Nintendo related in the works, or some meaty news IMO... even if it's their last.

they're going for a few days, and there will be many stories based on the visit, not just one.
