Cought thr news on CNN last night. Yes!! Talk about a guy deserving the award. Sin City was fucking fantastic on almost every level and I am glad to hear hes getting rewarded for it. I really think this movie shows how CGI ought to be used and not over done like the Star Wars Prequels. Im not sure what Sin City is upm against, but I hope he wins.

Cool beans. I wanted to see Sin City again, but just for the Marv bits - so I'll just wait on the DVD release. Mickey Rourke owned that movie. Everybody else was really great. I just love Rourke as Marv because I really didn't like Marv in the comics.

Oh, and I've got a raging hard-on for Super Rosario Dawson. :q

It was yesterday and the movie didn't won any prize.

I think it was recently confirmed that Frank Miller has already started writing Sin City 2 as well. It too will be filmed using the green screen, the whole way through. Casting has not been talked about yet, and neither has the plot.

that does look stupid, but im not gonna give Rodrigues shit for it. His movies are self financed IIRC, and movies like that and the Spy Kids movies are what make him the money to do stuff like Sin City.

First tragedy, then farce.
you know what? The Spy Kids movies were awesome for what they were, my little cousins ate that shit up when it came out...

I just think its pretty funny that one guy can be involved in Desperado, Four Rooms, Sin City and From Dusk till Dawn and then turn around and make awesome kids movies.

He finished writing a few years back when he got done with the comics. All they do are splice the stories together and I bet Rob Rod does that.

There's seven books correct? So that means Miller is probably writing some original stuff for the next movies...If they really intend to make a trilogy out of it. Anyway, here's some official news from ComingSoon.Net.

Frank Miller has already begun scripting Sin City 2, which he will co-direct with Robert Rodriguez, reports Screen Daily. The project will be jointly owned by Disney and the WeinsteinCo.

Speaking at Cannes Film Festival's annual luncheon for international distributors hosted by the Weinsteins, Miller said it was too early to announce casting but did confirm the project will be shot entirely on green screen, like the first film.

Miller was part of a large Sin City contingent that flew into town ahead of today's competition screening. Stars in attendance included Mickey Rourke, Benicio Del Toro, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen and Brittany Murphy.

The $40 million-budgeted Sin City has earned $72.9 million domestically

I wish he would write original stuff, that would kick ass. He can use Dwight another time, but I dont really like his story too much. And if Johhny Depp is in it, that would kick ass.

Well their was rumors of Sin City being a trilogy...And based off just the existing graphic novels, it wouldn't seem to me that there is enough material to make TWO more movies without writing anything new.

Dwight is featured in a few more of the Sin City graphic novels.

To be totally honest, only the first four Sin City GNs are worth reading. I'm hoping Miller won't be spreading himself too thin by trying to write original material.

Sin City "2" will probably be the storylines before and after Dwight's story in Sin City--no Nancy IIRC.

Sin city "3" will more than likely carry the From Hell and Back storyline, which is psychotic to say the least.

Hey, I love kids films, and all three Spy Kids films are some of the best in recent memory. I think they rock and am looking forward to this new one.

I've seen all three Spy Kids films -- not by choice, but that's OK, because I'll agree that the first two are solid entertainment. But the third one is total garbage, IMO.

First info on Sin City 2

Rodriguez, who wore his trademark cowboy hat, said he was pleased to be in Cannes, the "home" of film noir.

He added work had already started on a sequel to Sin City, and would feature many of the same characters.

He added that the next film would be based on Miller's book, A Dame to Kill For.

Dark Horse describes "A Dame to Kill For" as follows:

It's one of those hot nights, dry and windless. The kind that makes people do sweaty, secret things. Dwight's thinking of all they ways he's screwed up and what he'd give for one clear chance to wipe the slate clean, to dig his way out of the numb grey hell that is his life. And he'd give anything. Just to cut loose. Just to feel the fire. One more time.
