Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Animated Short

Great video. I just love the music :)

By the way, amazon uk is offering this game for 30 pounds, which, i assume, is a very nice price? I just pre-ordered the game.

You know, I don't consider myself a furry, but Carmelita has some nicely animated :Chet going on in her intro scene there. I would watch this cartoon every Saturday if it existed.

SONY WHY DON'T YOU WANT MONEY?

One of the YT comments makes a good point...... How did Carmelita get the flare into her hands, when they were tied behind her back?

I always liked Sly.
I wasn't really excited for this one.
This short increased my interest tenfold.

Absolutely delightful. It's not even the best animation, but it works. There's just so much heart. Evokes a bit of Archer.

This post speaks for me.

it was good but not so well animated.

Also sony could have made these franchises(sly, jack, ratchet) a lot more popular may be not as popular as mario but closer and could have easily sold 4 5 million if they had shows for these series etc or animated movie. they have studio and resources but why dont they do it ?

Because they don't care! Unfortunately.

The gaming landscape is changing to you have to try and market in different ways. Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction sold over two million. The two sequels this generation, however, sold between 1-2 million. Actually, I think All 4 One hasn't hit a million yet. I'm not too sure. The trajectory is downwards though, which isn't good.

A cartoon series would be a good way to expose these games to a younger audience. Kids love these style of games. A cartoon series is an easy way to make new fans. Heck, it would work really well for each of the games, especially Sly and Ratchet. Their universes and set-ups lend themselves really well for a weekly serial.

Sly has never been a massive hitter. But both Ratchet and Jak were very big at certain points. They just needed a little push to get further. I hope Sly gets the support necessary, because it's fantastic. I want Sly 4 to do really well since I'm a massive fan.

I get the feeling if it sells over a million, Sony will consider it a success. I don't think its budget is too big.

That was pretty great.

Sony really should have gave Sly and Ratchet animated cartoons/films back durng the PS2 days. Would have gave them a nice push. But now would be better than never.

I've been disliking these animated cinematics for this game ever since I got my first glimpse. This was no expection, and I don't really know why I don't like them.

For one, it must be the art. That and the animation seem to be constantly inconsistent. Either the characters are off model or there's some awful Flash animation tweening going on, and right after that awesome shot of Carmelita busting through the door which looked great in motion.

I know Sucker Punch must have been working with Flash or something on their cinematics as well, but those were more like motion comics. These things are pretty much fully animated. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm really getting the impression they wanted to follow in Sucker Punch's footsteps. Thus, it feels weird going from a fluidly animated shot to pretty much a static one.

Sanzaru's certainly doing a great job on the game itself but these animated parts are slightly all over the place.

The new artstyle is jarring compared to the original series.

R&C is similar. It needs to be able to be risqué. It's not fit for most kids networks, but it's not quite Adult Swim, either.

R&C hasn't been risque since the first or maybe the second game. The 'T' rated Ratchet & Clank saga is loooooooong gone.

Although I really like the short, I have to agree with you on the inconsistency. I'm not sure whether it was a matter of budget or a stylistic choice, but full animation throughout would have been amazing. I'm just glad to see this kind of stuff in a game though, it seems like the only animated cutscenes we get in games these days are CG or anime. A unique 2D Western style like this is much appreciated.

This was fantastic. I made some turrible avis if anyone wants one.

I almost made one of the

at the end but then I felt like a furry. So I didn't.

A trivial complaint. But It bugs me that the in-game Carmalita doesn't look like the cartoon one :/

I'm playing through the games right now and Carmalita looks much better than that... where is that shot from?

In-game image is from the boss battle with the Moat Monster in Medieval England; Cartoon is from "Timing is Everything".

Because Muggshot's men are SOOOOOOOO competent at tying knots.

You can't judge me Femmeworth! I prefaced what I said with "I'm not a furry"! That means everything I say afterwards is safe! I learned that in High School!

I guess I'm the only one that thinks the animation style of this short was really janky and low-budget looking (like most of the sly cooper scenes but those don't really offend because they're never long and the scenes change rapidly).

The game will get a disc and PSN release in US for the PS3 ver. @ $40, which is the UK/EU equivalent price.

No, the internet mandates that anything is furry!

Yeah. Maybe it's because I'm used to the Sucker Punch art but it looks really... awkward.

Sony really needed to keep investing in Sly, Ratchet, and Jak. What we got in return isn't bad by a long shot (Infamous, Resistance, and Uncharted) but those are games that only appeal to certain gamers. Sly, Ratchet, and Jak more or less appeal to everyone at every age group and they are more marketable mascots. Plus something about the cartoon art-style really speaks to it being a game. Also they were much better designs than their unofficial mascots of Crash and Spyro (though I loved those games to death).

On topic, love love love this short. Add another to the list who would watch weekly installments.

Going to take that, thank you very much.

Just got around to watching this. I love the Sly Cooper charm and I'm glad that they found a company like Sanzaru to give it all the love and attention it deserves. Also, would pay for a cartoon or movie for Sly and the Gang.
