Smackdown v Raw 2006

Got the game today seems pretty cool so far, have to tweak a few things myself (make finisher damage a bit more, make cpu counter a little less, turn off comentary lol, etc) but the game is pretty fun so far

just made my online profile

name is ZOMBIESS (all caps)

if any other players wanna add me to the list

mebbe if enough people get in on it we can make a GAF title lol ;)

oh and btw they already found a glitch to UNLOCK jake without a psp or cheat device basically win gm mode and then at the end when they want you to draft 3 wwe superstars pick jake and he will be unlocked.

That's funny. I was planning on getting the PSP version either way but at least now I won't jump on it so soon and perhaps I'll wait and see if I can get it as a X-mas present or as a gift exchange at work.

I still haven't played online, but can you tell me if any changes I make to a certain wrestler's moveset will be carried over into online matches?

I played this for a few hours last night and I'm LOVING it.

Slowed it down quite a bit for more of a sim approach.
EXHIBITION TITLE MATCHES THAT DONT TAKE TWO CARDS!!!!
Gm Modes seems interesting. Need to figure out a better way to manage payroll.
GORGEOUS graphics, you still have some collision issue, but youll always have that with wrestling titles.
BTW folks, Gamefaqs has a hacked save already with everything unlocked. Go DL it. JAke is in it as well.

Negatives?
The computer can counter like a champ regardless of the setting. Good thing you can change that.
The stupid ass B&W screen when you do a fll momentum special. Gotta be a way to get rid of that. It's painful when your wrestlers has a submission for a finisher... IE Jericho or Bret.

The problem i have with Yukes tittles is mostly Animation related:

Animations are really stiff. I mean by that the speed of punch and kick is pretty much "inhuman" like... They'll start slow and then hit the opposite player really fast. There's like no transition between animations. Also, There's not enough moves. This gen sucked ass in terms of wrestling games. Sure GM mode(in SD vs Raw 2006) is pretty fun, but the core engine remained the same for the past 5-6 year.

Fuck.

Fuck.

All things consider this is still animated better than any other wrestling game out there. Having played (and own most) them ALL I have a pretty good idea.

I love King of Colosseum (THANKS BLACKACE!), but it's robotic in it's movement and has even less trasistion between moves.

Day or Reckoning, I just dont get the hype behind this series. Jsut so many things wrong with the way it plays. Moreso than Smackdown.

I'd say this is a REALLY solid effort for Smackdown.

If you turn off camera angles, then all those evil things like the Matrix effects, the slowdown, the black & white screen and the blurriness goes away, plus the camera widens a bit instead of being so close to the 2 wrestlers.

I'm gonna be online later today, and will try to get the same name as my GAF one.

Sweet, thanks. didn't know if that worked or not. I like some of them, like when it goes to the annouce table. But some are just so damned distracting it's unreal.

I like the fact that the camera backs up a bit as well. The camera is too close to the wrestlers, just as it was in DOR 2 and it drove me NUTS. I like to plan out what I'm going to do, where I'm going to put them in the ring and what moves I'm going to set up next.

Having the camera that close prevents me from my inner chess game...

I got this today, and I've only had a short while to mess with it... so far the only thing I dislike is the reversal indicator, because it seems like you'd have a bigger window to reverse grapples IRL. I dunno if I can even get online with it, unless I can hook a wireless network card into the usb port of my ps2.

Ok, what the hell is this shit, I just unlocked Classic Hogan and he doesn't have any of his taunts and poses. They've been replaced by some other crap, and I don't see them anywhere in the Create Mode. Any chance they have to be unlocked like some of the other moves displayed by ?????.

If you like to have the camera cuts but don't like the stupid slo-mo finishing effect (I hate it) then you can just pause the game and unpause it to skip it.

I'll getting the game as soon as THIS CAW game save is finished.

FYI, you can only have 30 total CAS characters on a memory card. Keep that in mind before you or anyone wants to have that many or more with their game. Of course, you can use two memory cards at the same time.

I made a CAW of Crow Sting, which is nice since they have has moveset in the game (more or less, just had to make a few small changes).

Yeah that Kinda stinks but I'll just mix and match with diffrent saves when there are more out.

For what anyone in the know, would the PSP version compare favorably to the PS2 version? I don't have a PS2, but considering getting one just for this game. But if the PSP version is close to quality of the PS2 version I will just get that one.

Yeah I cant see myself playing this at home much but I reckon the PSP version would be ace on the road, and it has poker and other mini-games to distract too...

POKER!!!?!?!?!?!?!? I didn't know that. IGN never got past the 1st minigame profile, lol.

Sweet, can you post a pic/listing for him? I've been playing this all weekend (story mode) and I can't say enough good things about it - the graphics, stamina meter, gameplay sliders...it's like THQ said, "Hey, it's nearing the end of this console gen...let's throw everything and the kitchen sink in there" :D

Best Smackdown yet, and better than Day of Reckoning 2. It looks like I won't be replacing my Gamecube anytime soon.

Imagine that, Bish saying something good about THQ...... :D
BTW, my latest Mix CD is AWESOME!!!

Thanks Fusebox, I will check out that link. That Poker sounds like a pretty cool mini-game. I might be swayed into getting the PSP version instead.

Absolutively. I'm actually going to add the scorpions to his outfit tonight and then I'll take some pics and upload the formula. I haven't bought a wrestling game since Fire Pro D and I bought this one merely as an impulse purchase since it was getting pretty solid reviews and praise and I have to say it is very fun so far. The Challenge mode is great, especially the upper-level ones where you recreate great matches and the CAW mode is quite difficult but very flexible and rewarding; that's what I'm most looking forward to messing with when I go on vacation in a few weeks.

Ok here goes.

Profile

HUD Name: Sting

Torso->Costume->15/17: 43/0/7/100/0
Legs->Tights->3/20: 43/27/3/100/0
Feet->Socks->1/22: 43/14/0/100/86
Feet->Socks->22/22: 100/0/50/100
Head->Tattoo->Design->147/162: 0/0/18/100 (You want to move (r1) this and adjust it (square once and horizontal and vertical scale to get it the right size) so that it's the dark part above his eye, then go to Layer->Copy and copy that layer (Called Pattern_Simple) and move it over to his other eye)
Head->Tattoo->Letter->The Period in Alphabet Set 1/18: 37/50/0/100 (this time you are making his nostrils, same thing; this one's a bit more of a pain to get right but mess around with the size and positioning and you should get it there, then copy and do the same thing for the other nostril)
Arms->Gloves->2/18: 43/12/11
Torso->Coat->5/8: 0/0/7 (then go to Layer->Display Setup and tick the checkmark off for Match so that he only wears his trenchcoat in his entrance and cutscenes)
If there are any out-of-place black marks left on his face, you can cover them up with a white oval.
I would also then recommend Face Tattoo 149/162 (40/0/0/100) to make the small area of dark paint under each eye.
Finally, you can slap an NWO Logo (Torso->Logo-44/64) on if you so desire.

AI Fighting Style->Striker, then Grappler. Advanced->Move Aggressive, everything else Often.

Entrance: Whatever you like; it's pretty fun to mess around with entrances.

Moveset 19, but change to-
Taunt: Powerful 6, Mysterio 1, Beat Chest 1, Muscle Appealing
Signature Moves: Cross Body 2, DDT 17, Suplex 3

Couple of preview pics taken with my terrible cell phone camera:

i rented it. I was disappointed. I found the controls hard and the camera annoying. I want wrestling games like the N64 WCW games, where they were button mashing fun.

There are two ways to look at it.

If you listen to the people that are complaining about things in the PS2 version, those same complaints are going to be in the PSP version because the two games are virtually identical. (There will be a few more complaints to add on top of that, but we'll wait for the reviews for those.)

However, if you consider what handheld wrestling games were before this, one look at the PSP version will hook you. There has never been a portable grappler anywhere near the quality of SvR, so if you want to play a wrestling game on the go, and you have a PSP, you pretty much need to get the PSP version.

They only get crazier.

Uh, not really. There are only three mini-games, and the best two have already been revealed.

I hope to god that each CAW on the PSP is a separate file for easy league downloadin'.

If you mean an individual file on the Memory Stick™, then no. All of the save information is contained within a single save file, just like the PS2. Sorry.

I don't read IGN, so I didn't know they already showed the Eugene one.

That sounds good to me. After my PS2 kicked the bucket a few months ago I decided not to get another one. Seeing as you say the games are pretty much identical, I feel like I should be satisfied with the PSP version. I know the graphics will be toned down a bit, but I can live with that. Eventually the PS2 version will be mine also, down the road though.

Finally cheated my way through the first 3 Challenge settings using a 2nd controller and unlocked Million $ Man, the old school blue cage and the Wrestlemania 9 arena. Now I'm gonna make Dibiase and Andre the new tag team champs.

"What you gonna do when the Macho Man and Hulk Hogan run Wild on You??!!!!???"...."OHHHHHHHHH YEAAAAAAAAAAAH DIIIIIIIIG IIIIIIIIIIT"

But seriously, I'm loving this game. Finally got the sliders where I want them and I'm mostly playing Exibition now. Probably the best wrestling game I've played, and i've played them all.

What sliders are you using? What difficulty level? Right now I'm quite enjoying beating the Challenges on Hard but like I said this is my first rasslin' game since Fire Pro.
