Small Naruto Narultimate Hero 3 impressions

Oichi

I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce!
Got to play a little bit of it... the game seems relatively the same as the first two games, which is good because I prefer this game over Naruto Gekitou Taisen (it's more in-tune with the Naruto series, overall).

The big difference is the ability to go into different modes in the game. Hitting your level 3 super on characters will allow you to go into different modes, and everyone has a ton of new ones. Naruto goes into Kyuubi mode, Sasuke into Curse Seal Level 2, Kimimaro into CS2, Choji into his butterfly mode (!) and Lee into his Drunken Master mode (!!!!!!!). Kiba didn't have any new mode, but Shikamaru did.

Some of the super combos have been revamped. Neji's new hakke super is just SWEET to look at. And the Kyuubi and CS2 supers are sweet.

The demo is out in some stoers, so that's how I got to play it.. but I'll try to see if I can play it a little bit more later on.

Sounds good, but I just couldn't get into the first two games. The super moves are amazing and fun to watch, but it gets old after that. Just not enough game play depth and it really needs to be 4P simultaneous.

I much prefer the Gekitou Ninja Taisen series over the Narutimett Hero series. Naruto 4 is awesome; I really want to sell my GC today to get some extra cash for the 360, but I might keep it a bit longer because of Naruto...

Oh... well that's nice. It really doesn't imo though.

Lytedge, i have all three previous games. Naruto 4 worth it?

Yes, definitely. They balanced out the game play and the dropped the desperation super move stuff. Makes the game better. Team play is also improved from what I remember (I played very little of Naruto 3), and the visuals have been improved. Backgrounds look much better, and the super moves are a bit more cinematic now. I'm impressed. On the negative side, control is analog stick only now.

Sweet! Thanks..I dont mind the D-pad being dropped as I never used that pos nintendo slapped on the gc pad.

Sounds nice. I really want the PS2 Narultimate Hero games but the 2P only restriction really kills a lot of the appeal for me. Plus I heard the combat system isn't hat well executed.

Glad to hear that everyone has third transformations or whatever. If only 8ing had allowed the Sound Five to go different curse seal levels and what not.. I was also hoping for Butterfly Chouji.

Doc, if you're interested in N:GNT4, I made a thread of my impressions on the game about a week ago.

To answer some questions...

Supers are done by button sequences. The buttons appear in order on the bottom and you just gotta hit them. They're the same sequences all the time.

I don't know how many new characters there are... Kimimaro was the only new character in the demo. I assume that the Sound Five are in there as well, complete with upgradable CS2 modes. I'm assuming that they have the fanservice characters too, like Naruto in the Maito suit.

IMO this game has quite a lot of depth that people are missing. Being able to cancel string combos into projectile attacks or storing up supers... it's all pretty cool and makes the game a little deeper (because if it didn't have these things, it'd be very basic). Check shishi-rendan.com for some cool cancel tutorial vids. They're really fun to play around with.

Gotta bump this for some new info

- There are over 40 characters in the game now. This includes the Jounins such as Anko, Asuma (!) and Kurenai (!!!!), as well as two special guests, the 1st and 2nd Hokages! Naruto Gekitou Taisen what?

- The button mashing sequences for supers still seems to be in for some supers. It also happens in real time now... and I'm certain they did this just so they could have that Rasengan vs. Chidori sequence in an actual fight. When two real-time special moves collide you'll have to do the button mash tug o war thingie.

- Certain characters will summon or morph into giant versions, meaning you'll have to do battle with them in a fight. I don't know the conditions to pull this off but I'm assuming it takes a lvl 3 super to do it. Orochimaru will summon Mando, Jiraiya has Gamabunta, Tsunade has her slug, Gaara has Shukaku (!!!) and Kiba has his Kiba/Akamaru super henge.

- All of the old fanservice characters (ANBU Kakashi, Maito Naruto and Awakened Hinata) are still in the game, and there are some new ones too....

- Single player is 3rd person action/adventure style now, so you can literally walk around Konoha and other locales between fights.

does action replay let u play the naruto games on NGC?

(also)

i hear some prefer 3 over 4 because of the fact in 3, midbattle u can turn into kyuubi naruto and what not while in 4 u have to actually select that version?

No, you can still do that in GNT4. But 4 also has a separate Naruto Kyuubi 2 character, which is how Naruto looks when he was fighting Sasuke (red kyuubi aura, one tail showing).

I haven't played 3, but 4 has a ton of characters, backgrounds, a tag team mode, and about 400 missions. So I can't see how 3 would be better really.
