Ah, Lionel now know's Clark's secret

All haters be damned this was, in my always humble opinion, the best episode of the season thus far. Tom Wellington did a great job of portraying Lionel, and it was great to see one with the power's of Clark and the opposite of ethics. Yeah, yeah, I know we had 'red kryptonite' Clark, but nobody embodies evil in the show quite like Lionel. Seeing Clark stuck in prison, with a frail body, and none of his abilities drew real attention to just how powerful he normally is, and how alien a mere man's capabilities must seem. (Well, he IS an alien, so that makes sense, but having it believably acted is another thing.) The moments between Lionel-Clark and Martha, Chloe, and Lana were hilarious and the ending really drove home that whole 'weight of the world' feeling that's constantly crushing down on Clark, as well as this destiny he just can't avoid. Too bad the writers will likely cop out and nullify the events of this episode in the next (which by the way, doesn't exactly look great from the previews.) As a fan of the show (and the many highs and lows therein), I really enjoyed this episode.

man if only this ep was about christopher reeve switching bodies with tom welling... :(

Danny Glover was incredible as Clark, i totally believed that, Tom Welling was shocking as lionel though.

OWNED @ Chloe though, that was awesome.

whew.. after coming to odds with you guys on last week's episode it is good to see we agree on this week's...

john glover as clark was excellent. I have said for a while now that he was easily the best actor on the show. a great performance as always.

welling as luthor was decent. really no complaints though it didn't really knock me out of the park. I give him credit though as you could clearly see he was trying to emulate Glover which I can only imagine isn't an easy task.

Chloe getting owned.. god you guys suck. I am completely in love with Chloe and it sucked to see her get her emotional teeth kicked in through her skull..... wow.. and to finish it off with "That will be all Ms. Sullivan" or whatever it was... man.....

ffwd the lana scenes. or at least I should have. as usual.. yawwwnn. though getting pissed at clark/lionel was alright.

clark feeling up his mom was kind of fucked up.

for me though, the bittersweet part was the whole lionel resolution. On one hand, part of me wishes they would have stuck to their guns and killed him off with the liver thing. on the other hand being the best actor on the show and a truly awesome character you really don't want to see him go (they should kill lana and just bring in lois full time). so I guess I can live with bringing him back but in turn making clark the reason he is now head bad guy at the prison. I thoroughly enjoyed that twist.

overall an extremely fun throw away episode. 9/10

Lana's fucking useless as a character. Lois's interaction with Clark already tops everything Lana's ever done thus far.

And if they give her even the slightest hint of power with this arc of hers, I'm through watching Dawson's Kryptonite.

Yeah, as sexified as Lana may be, we've basically seen everything her character has to often. (Hell, we saw it all in Season 1.) Give her a dramatic death, make it a real turning point in Clark's life, let Lois be there to console him and use it as a means to cinch their bond. This naturally puts Chloe in the losing situation of watching her cousin get it on with her always-present infatuation, but hey, she's been the whipping girl of the series anyways.

That was an awesome episode!

Is it just me, or when Lionel LUthor sez he's a changed man, does he mean he's good now?

Whatchyaz think of that?

And God bring back Louis, a.k.a. Teal'c's fuck buddy.

Wasn't Lana in Superman III? They can't kill her off.

Smallville already takes ALOT of liberties with the Superman mythos, so it wouldn't really be that big of a deal

Lionel Luthor is not good now. He's going to play good, until he finds out what Clark's weakness is. This is not a spoiler, just speculation on my part.

Still, they could just ship her off somewhere rather than killing her.

Yeah, it seems as though some of Clark's moral residue was left in Lionel. How/if this impacts the dynamics between Lex and Clark remains to be seen, and should we also assume that some of Lionel's darkness creeped its way into Clark? I forgot to mention it in my original post, but I love that look that the possessed Clark gave to Lionel right as he was walking to into the pen to kill him, never have I seen Tom Wellington give such a "yeah buddy, you're fucked" glance, and I must say, it was pretty convincing. The look on Danny Glover's (Clark at the time) face as he knew he was to get utterly destroyed was pretty priceless too - Clark realizing his present frailty and all that. Just an all around GREAT episode. I hope whoever wrote this one is given a permanent job and pens many, many more...

Actually I made this gif myself using some videos I had, but whatever, I'm sure I'll change it soon enough and it's not as those Alizee's gyrating booty ever harmed anybody. And sorry about the actor mix-up, guess I've been seeing too many 'Saw' commercials. :D

I was kinda hoping they'd leave her in Paris and just really throw her character on the back burner, but nope, she's back. It's nice that they're trying to change some aspects of her character, but she's just becoming more and more auxiliary. Give Chloe some more screen time damn writers!

I have more trouble when people switch their avatars around. I don't really keep track of a whole lot of people, but I always tend to get confused when someone I do recognize by name changes their avatar, like when LakeEarth got rid of the humping Mario, or DarthWoo ditching the B5 avatar.

.

IMO, this is what it means: He's not a changed man in so much as he's now "good", he's changed in that he'll now be able to form a bond with Lex...that's what lex has always wanted, and IMO it's what's going to turn Lex against Clark.
