Holy shat, SMT1 and 2!

Yeah, Gideon Zhi loves his megaten. Good thing too, huh? :)

I think Gideon Zhi is one of the better hackers out there, releasing some good stuff.

I love rom translations, they rock. Fuck off lazy publishers!

damn, I remember starting a game in Rainbow Silkroad a long time ago, but got sidetracked. I guarantee I don't have the slightest clue where the hell I was supposed to go.

Some others:

Moon Crystal

kind of curious why that didn't come out here.

I want translations of PS1/Saturn games dammit.

Where's my fan hack of Saturn Grandia, DW4r, and PS1 Tales of Phantasia? :/

how DARE nobody mention Romancing SaGa 3 after all the hard work the translator put into it... hell he even reverse-engineered the game and added a secret programmers' room/bonus room into the game to give you extra goodies....

Though the method to get the room is hard as hell

Some needs to make this a steecky!

I see your Romancing Saga 3 and raise you Dragon Quest 5 and 6 for the SNES! Your move.

Haha, those STED and Villgust translations take me back... I did those with the aid of only a Japanese dictoinary and knowledge of Kana, back in high school... they are probably so mistranslated it's not even funny :lol

I think this came out in 93 or 94 (edit: looked it up; came out at the end of 92), and like most import NES titles that came out then it didn't get released because we were well into the 16-bit era by then and companies figured no one would buy it

There was a Saturn Soul Hackers translation in the works iirc. I agree overall though, there's tons of great 32bit RPGs I'd love in english (Shining Force III Scenario 2-3, Princess Crown, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, etc). There's even a few N64 games I wouldn't mind (Fuurai no Shiren 2, Wonder Project J2).

BTW, did anyone ever translate the SFC original Tactics Ogre? I've been itching to play it again and I sold my PSone copy years ago. :(

You wouldn't happen to be the same demi that posts on MO's translation board, would you?

Almost everything about them. I dunno, maybe I am being a nitpicking prick but I really enjoyed the original Ys, the entire mood was great (something that the several ports were never able to capture) and probably only was surpassed by Ys Eternal I & II on PC released awhile ago.

It's like if someone ported FF6 to GBA, the screen gets squashed and the music just doesn't sound right whatsoever. It'd by no means be a bad port for those who never played the SNES version but when you've play the original and loved it to bits you're like :(

There was a Clock Tower for the Super Fami? Whoa. Plus I've always wanted to play Live A Live.

I hate to ask... will these patches work on a OS X emu?

It should work without any work required from you except using a patching utility, but it varies from emulator to emulator. Sorry I can't help you further. :/

Live A Live!!! I love that game for some reason. I'm sure the patches will work as long as there's OSX patching software (a lot of patches are have auto installs on DOS/Windows that they come with) - worse come to worse you can patch the rom on a windows box, and then send it over to your OSX box.

I have to say that Dragon Quest 5 is quite good. It's the only game in the series where
the character you control the entire game isn't the "legendary hero." Plus a bunch of other cool stuff that's never happened in a DQ game before or since
