So anybody buy anything from Amazon Renewed? (Looks like my PS3 fat just died)

Just curious if anybody bought anything from Amazon Renewed and if so how was the experience? As the title says looks like my PS3 fat kicked the bucket so I'm thinking I should get a PS3 super-slim to replace it. I know, I should have bought one years ago but my PS3 was working just fine.

I bought a Switch before and it was perfect but it was Premium Renewed.

Also just so people know Premium Renewed products have a 365 day return policy so you can use it for a year and return it lol.

I took advantage of this and returned the Switch after 6 months when I found a cheap Splatoon SE in Japan.

I can’t add my quote to my previous post but I wanted to offer my condolences as well.

RIP Phat PS3.

Was she BC? I still have my BC PS3 hooked up but I don’t use it as much as I actually want to because I’m scared of her dying.

Yes she was. Did a lot of gaming on that PS3. (Definitely the best hardware to play PS2 games.)

Just get one from anywhere. The super-slim is dirt cheap everywhere, it's basically a disposable console.

Bought some PS4 Slims back then (refurbished). 2/4 were ok, 2 had lose parts in it and one of them also was super loud.

No experience with Amazon renewed but RIP to your OG Fatboy.

I bought an old 360 from them. It had an "Amazon certified" label on it, which I think is the same program. The console worked just fine, and it looked clean. The only downside is that it was more expensive than a 360 off ebay.

Fwiw you can jailbreak a PS3 stupidly easy these days and enable the locked software emulation on later models.
That's just a full software emulation though. It's better to use PCSX2 which can improve the games versus the basic enhancements on the PS3 provides.

PCSX2 can beat the output of even the latest PS5 version of Sony's emulator. You also get access to things like wide screen hacks, as well as texture packs that can make games look just as good as the remasters that are getting commercial releases.

I figured that's what I do if I want to play my old PS2 games from now on. I actually setup it months ago and when I tested it it worked just fine. I know in theory I could just switch to a PS3 emulator but then again I do have some games via the PS3 store (Mostly through playstation plus) that I might want to play and using real PS3 hardware would help with that. (You know, until Sony doesn't let you download PS3 software anymore.)

Can't you fix it? Since it's backwards compatible you can look into the frankenstein treatment, should be worth.
I guess probably. I mean I've seen videos of people doing the heat gun treatment but then the comments mention it's a temporary fix on one like mine.

I do recommend using a Super Slim for PS3 games, That's the model I have hooked up. It's just that there are better ways to play your PS2 games.

PS3 emulation is fine, but it's not a solved problem like PS1 and PS2 emulation is.

I've written off my entire PS3 library. I don't expect Sony do do anything but remake games at best or forget about them at worst.
My Playstation library is PS2 games and PS4 games. It seems I skipped the odd numbers.
