So apparently scorpions are descended from Xenomorphs

Like, why would you need that many claws on one creature?

I didn't realize this was a gif. It took forever to load, and when it started to move it scared the fuck out of me. Lol.

Are you saying that David invented scorpions?

And to think, a good friend of mine used to tell me about how he'd find scorpions in his vacation house, out in Puerto Rico. Let's all be grateful we're giants in comparison.

A lot of creatures like that have a pair of primary claws to catch and kill and a pair of secondary claws to shovel the food in

A friend of mine bought a house outside the city on several acres, and for the first month of living there he'd go out in his back yard every night with a black light hunting for scorpions (in case anyone wasn't aware, they glow under a black light...yeah)

He killed like 40+ the first month. Apparently he doesn't find them as much anymore. Must have thinned out the population. Good for him.

Moray eels and kind of like xenomorphs in that they have a second mouth inside their throat that comes out to drag it's prey down.

Edit: didn't expect to be beaten on this haha

Those little mouth-parts are called chelicerae and are the name-defining characteristics of the clade Chelicerata which includes all of the arachnids, horseshoe crabs and pantopodes.

In scorpions they have the appearance of pincers but are still homologues to the hollow fangs through which spiders inject their venom.

These is the kind of designs where I wonder "How did it come to this? What do these fellow's ancestors look like?"

it kinda makes sense, like, they don't have hands, so the outer jaw is for the actual biting and latching (of something alive), and then they gotta have another set to actually chew and shit obviously

in case you were wondering, I'm definitely not a biologist
