So DDS2 is now about 40 bucks at Gamestop. I was sooo close to picking it up today but I wasn't sure if I should, cuz I never played the original DDS as it's almost impossible to find. You guys think I should grab it or is it not worth playing unless I have played the first one?

I picked up DDS2 without playing the first and I'm finding it pretty enjoyable so far. I feel you though, DDS1 is pretty much impossible to find at a reasonable price and I refuse to pay any more than $50 for it. Tough luck I guess.

You'd probably miss out on some of the significance of certain plot elements and you wouldn't have the appropriate feeling of 'attachment' to some of the supporting characters in the 2nd game. But if you cant find the first one you might as well just play it, you'll enjoy it.

Sure, go for it -- I think DDS1 is a bit better, but if you can't find it, DDS2 is an acceptable substitute

The new ones seem to be going for around $65-$75 avg, and used maybe around $10-$15 less or so.
