Sadly this isn't a new issue, every game it got worse and worse. Until the arms got completely ridiculous now.

The Tekken characters have weird proportions, and I think that's the real reason they fail to bring Tifa over, she's way too thin compared to those hulking monstrosities.
Heck even Clive and Noctis had to take a weird side stance to not appear completely out of whack when next to other characters, and even then they barely fit the big width requirement this game has, and Clive is a rather big dude in FF.

they all follow the Mishima gym routine

It makes the moves easier to read when the arms and palms of the characters' hands are the size of paddles.
Wasn't a problem in DOA. I always hear this reason when 2D fighters featured women without massive hands, feet, and shoulders, yet were still easy to read.

Series has come back from worse

Big lessons to be learned for Tekken 9 though
How so? Tekken 6 and 7 were great fun, and according to the majority of players had better mechanics. Of course me saying dead is an exaggeration. But it's still worse than its predecessors.

Tekken 4 and Tag 2 were also called the death of the series at the time.

My biggest problem with Tekken 8 is constantly being bounced off the floor, what's a fucking shit mechanic

Another reason I'll be dropping Tekken when Virtua Fighter 6 arrives

I really hope that it does great

Fighting games became weird in recent times, and a fresh start from a old IP could be the key to the genre

Also, it goes full circle in the development of the thing - Virtua Fighter was made, Shenmue was the alternative, Yakuza was the alternative, Dragon Engine was made thinking for Yakuza, Virtua Fighter is back using Dragon Engine

Yeah, it's because they're lazy about the custom clothes since they don't want to bother tailoring everything to each characters body type. Again, they copy VF and do a poor job of it like always.

That's the piss poor excuse that Harada gave us a while ago.

Asuka and other female characters were just as easy to read with normal arms in Tekken 5 and prior games.
Other fighting games don't do such ridiculous proportions and it reads fine too.

Her head looks smaller than I remember. I don't recall Asuka ever looking like that in Tekken 8. As a matter of fact, most of the women share the same thin frame or body type in the game excluding Lidia who is surprisingly fairly muscular and maybe Xiayou who is slightly smaller. Then again, Asuka can hit harder than a truck, so maybe she buffed up in the latest trailer or something?

This isn't new. Character models always looked wide with broad shoulders.

It's something gamers typically don't notice during gameplay cause the camera is facing the character from the side.

This has to do with how characters move and animate on screen.

These character models are really Tekken the shit.

No, really - Tekken is what's wrong with Tekken. I'm still mad that they turned Soul Calibur into Tekken because they thought we really just needed that much more Tekken.

Single player is great, but all the added arts bullshit and automated specials nonsense has no place online. No Lei Wulong is also a crime. What were they thinking skipping him at the start. That's as hurtful to me as not having a Ridge Racer game with a new PlayStation launch.

My online Tekken fix these days is playing T5DR via RPCS3.

A bloody shame. The last good SC for me was the later arcade version of 3. 4 left a sour taste in my mouth and I haven't bothered since.

The only thing I know... I put all the Tekken girls lying on the floor, with their butties showing in the air.

Tekken's female character models have had those broad shoulders since at least Tekken Tag 2, which came out 14 years ago…
I don't think the problem is " broad shoulders" but the fact that her head is only , like, 3/4 of what it should be and has pretty much no neck ( plus utterly overgrown hands)
