So how's World of Warcraft?

So now that WoW's been out for a decent amount of time, what's the verdict? I've never played a MMORPG, and I'm usually pretty busy so I can't devote too much time to this game, but I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. A friend of mine told me I shouldn't bother because not enough people play it. What do you guys think?

I think your friend does some hard drugs. There's tons of people in game.

A ton of people play it..I dont know why your friend said otherwise. I have played for a few weeks now and don't think I will continue once my free month is up. I have EQ2 as well, and for me its just closer to d&d.

Both are great, but I like EQ2's more lifelike graphics as opposed to the art style WoW uses. Both offer pretty good soloing but I like the grouping in EQ2 better. Tons of tools for guilds as well.

I wont pay a monthly fee to more than 1 mmorpg so one has to go. I am sure there are plenty of other that feel the same way about the fee, but they may prefer WoW. Also, it really bugs me that there are alot of players in WoW with non rpg names. aka littlenicehips, superkisslips, etc. Just ruins the experience for me.

Hope this helps you.

:lol :lol :lol

I've seen more people in Iron Forge than most other MMORPGs combined. :lol

Hmmm, I'm not sure if it matters, but I think my friend was speaking relative to EQ. Anyway, yeah, the monthly fee hurts. It hurts even more when I consider the fact that I won't play it nearly as much as most people because I simply won't have the time.

That's what is great about this game. You can log on for 20 minutes and still accomplish something (due to its solo player nature). Also if you log out at an inn and stay out a couple days your "rest state" will continue to increase which means when you log back in and fight you will get double experience for a short period of time. It's great for casual players.

Depends on the server you play on. Ranges from populated to nearly barren. As I only play with friends, and would rather be shot than involve myself in a Blizzard games community, I went for barren.

It's fairly buggy as well, but nothing that wont be ironed out in a month or two, and nothing game crippling, mostly annoyances.

My only complaint is the latency meter. I swear its fucking broken. 25 people surrounding me in Ironforge acting like fools = 50-100 ping, farming in another area with maybe 1-2 other people, random, unexplainable jumps to 300+ ping.

It never lags, which furthers my broken theory, but that goddamn bar randomly turning yellow for no reason drives me nuts. Wish I could turn it off.
