well not really...yet
Was getting usually ~240KB/sec. Came back home today and was getting speeds like 20-40KB/sec. Rebooted everything and am now getting upwards of 580! Seems like others in my area got this too.

So who else has been blessed. Not just in Houston as it seems its nationwide.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated

Timewarner is constantly upgrading its network. I've got buddies that've used their cable broadband service for years and have seen steadily increasing download speeds in that time...

First tragedy, then farce.
yeah, my modem went out earlier today (Austin).. I reset my modem and am now flying around the net like a madman.. great timing because I just got my Raid drives up and running on my new rig :D

Mine should have been upped weeks ago but I haven't noticed anything until yesterday. I got 450 kb/s while downloading One Piece 129. Later it dropped to 200 kb/s though so I'm still not exactly sure if I have higher d/l speeds. >_>

IIRC

In 2004, it went from 2mbps, to 3mbps at the beginning of the year...up to 5mbps currently. All within a span of about 12 months.

Dammit, I want to get these upgrades.

So you guys don't get charged more for them? BTW I'm on Telus (ADSL) in Edmonton.

I'm with RR and I haven't noticed any upped DL speeds.
Can I fix this?
Give it til the end of the week maybe. I think today they started doing it en masse. Or just reboot your modem.

I can't think of another service/company I have been more pleased with than RR.

It's a shame that not everyone has equal access to them, and are stuck with limited options.

Yeah RR rocks. Our family has had it since the first week it came available in Orlando (probably 5 or 6 years now) and been very pleased with it.

BT in the UK is considering moving from a 'pay for bandwidth' model to 'pay for throughput' model.

So instead of paying more for a 1mb or 2mb service, everyone gets the fastest service their line will allow (512k - 4mb). Then you just pay for the GBs you download, some offering flat rate of course.

Sounds good to me, and perhaps common sense too - if the line can supply faster speeds, light users won't be hogging it for so long, which should be more efficient for suppliers

Wow, pricing seems horrible in Europe.

Anyway, that is awesome. I really hope this makes the rest of the big cable companies match them, I've got 3Mbps from Charter, and I would fucking love a 5Mb connection for the same price.

I've had RR at my place for the last 3 years, and it has been upped in speed twice I think. It's really nice, but it does cost $45 a month. :(

Mine tested out anywhere from 4660kbs to 5800kbs. Road Runner is $45 per month here, but it's great for online gaming and of course downloading big files. I'm in Wisconsin and have had Road Runner for the last 18 months. I find myself typically being the host in nearly every Halo 2 match I play online.
