So... should I open up my copy of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe? (PS2)

I got it delivered today from EBGames.com... actually forgot I had it pre-ordered.

No reviews seem to mention the control differences at all...

However they do mention frame rate problems, and lots of annoying loading.

So, do I open this and enjoy, or do I return it while it's sealed? Somebody who owns the PS2 version, please compare it to Gamecube one.

I wouldn't... frame rate is important in SMB, and although nobody has mentioned the controls, I really can't imagine that the DS2 analogs would do anything but bring the game down. Get the Xbox version, or just get SMB1 for the GC (SMB2 kinda sucks anyways)

* All this is based on the single player game. If you just bought it for the multiplayer part, then keep the PS2 version.

I got a chance to try the ps2 version at a friends...I would recomend you do as the above poster advised and exchange for the Xbox copy or get the GCN version of 1 or 2.

DS2 was not designed with this game in mind.

...plus slowdown on a thin line is control breaking madness.

If what they say about frame rate and loading is true, give it a wide berth. Do you have xbox or GC?

the xbox one sounds better from what I have read. Fuck load times, the GC was seamless. Also, why is deluxe not getting released on GC? I guess it wouldn't sell heaps, but I would probably buy it for the new levels, they could discount it our something.

Return it.

I honestly don't get why ANYBODY would buy this for something other than the Gamecube or Xbox.

The horrible framerate in the PS2 version makes this game unplayable. Its just another PS2 game that gets ruined due to the framerate.
