So what great original games came out this year that weren’t sequels or franchises?

$50 + is a lot for consumers to pay for a game, and companies know that the mass market won’t buy anything for that price unless they’re confident it will be good (AKA a continuation of a game they already enjoy) ……..

So what games were great this year that were completely original, and were they swamped by franchise competition?

Killzone
X-Men Legends (Licensed, but not a sequel or franchise, per se)
Transformers (same)
Riddick (not a VG franchise anyway)
Fable

Full Spectrum Warrior
Ninja Gaiden (the NG franchise was basically dead)
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders (KUF was a rts on the PC that sucked and no one played)
The Suffering wasn't too shabby.
