The developer was switched to Swingin' Ape Studios after Nihilistic quit. I've read that they were about 85% done with the game when they left. The release date has been pushed to 2006 but Blizzard has aquired Swingin' Ape Studios.
Well, it was playable on the E3 floor this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard makes a release announcement soon. My guess is early next year.
Did Nihilistic really quit? I had heard that Blizzard removed Nihilistic from the project...But what actually happened?
I believe Blizzard actually purchased Swinging Ape, and is looking for them to make console versions of a lot of their franchises. Does my memory serve me correctly?

Yes, they bought Swingin' Ape to work on the console side of things.
From the various things I have read, there was a disagreement internally between Blizzard and Nihilistic so they left. This was when 85% of the project was done, and so Swingin' Ape took over to wrap things up.
At E3, I asked them if they were worried about it seeming "last gen" at that point and the response was that as long as it was a good, high quality game, Blizzard wasn't concerned. They believe it will still find an audience.
Good point about all three being backwards compatable. I guess they can always stick a "Playable on Revolution, PS3 and X360!" at the end of the commercials. Though, not so sure about X360.
Is this game ANYTHING like it was when it was first shown off? I guess I'd better check out that E3 link...
