i just saw it. as much of a Cam fan i am, it took a while for me to get around to seeing it, due to the fact i dont like sodernbergs style, in ALL his movies.

and.... am i missing something here? am i mistaken in thinking its meandering horseshit?
do i need to have read Lem's book first to apprechiate it?
(not that im looking for an excuse to like it)

perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why jimbo was behind this project.

If there was ever a movie that didn't need a remake it was Solaris. I've never seen it but I can't imagine it being a better film than the original and if you thought it "meandered" don't EVER watch the original. :p

Maybe he wanted to do pennance for making Titanic?

Seriously, I am a Soderburgh fan, buit this one was a misfire. I didn't like it. I wanted to, but I didn't. It certainly had some interesting thmeatic stuff, was pretty to look at, and had a great plot twist, but I fell asleep in the middle, which is never a good sign.

And, as a Soderburgh fan, I have to say he's made more than a few duds. I've never seen Full Frontal, butit's supposedly terrible. And Underneath was godawful.

Bogdan, explain the click...
as i say, i couldnt see it. it just came across as Art-Wank. i know that the source-material is a very well respected book but....

perhaps you could elaborate?

The guy makes two hit movies in a year and suddenly he's given the freedom to film whatever he wants...I didn't realize that meant CRAP!

He made Sex, Lies and Videotape, and for that he has the freedom to make whatever film he wants, even crap.

SLV is one of my top-ten films. I love it.
