Some DS games in NZ are from US.

Normally, we get PAL territory versions of games (complete with European language select and stuff). The labels, boxes, and instructions are all printed and assembled locally.

However, something I've noticed with atleast Sprung and ZooKeeper is that they come from the US. Now this isn't THAT strange, seeing as DS is region-free, and not abnormal - the launch version of Advance Wars was essentially a US copy, but packaged here. I deduced this, because later, when I bought another copy of Advance Wars, it had a different title screen, a language option screen, and wouldn't communicate with my first copy. IT would seem they use carts intended for US consumption over here.

The odd thing though, is that SPrung and Zookeepr keep the packaging from the US - they say "For sale only in US and Canada". The labels also have the suffix -USA on them. So are we getting dumped excess supply of these titles? I guess it's one way of getting titles here earlier.

Yeah, same as Australia. I noticed my copy of Zoo Keeper just had an Aussie rating sticker slapped over the 'E' rating on the box. And they'd scribbled out the 'For sale in America and Canada only' thing on the back of the box.

SCRIBBLED IT OUT! That must of been a fun task for the distributer. I really hope they start doing this more often, though.

the DS is selling so fast in AU, they can't even make the games fast enugh to keep up with the demand, son they have to EMERGENCY AIR LIFT from the USA!!

yeah, that's it

"Holy shit we sold out of Sprung and Ping Pals, all three copies of each!"
"WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO? WHAT IF ANOTHER HUNGRY CONSUMER COMES IN THIS MONTH AND ASKS FOR SPRUNG? THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED!"

*Australia implodes*

This has happened with several GBA and GBC titles as well. Namely the big hits, heck we got the first ever English release of Final Fantasy I & II before anyone else. Why on earth we still have not got The Minish Cap is beyond belief.

Further proof that region-free gaming needs to take effect!

Region-free gaming...suh--weeet. It's be neat if they simply made english translations at teh same time, and just released the same copies the world over...but I guess it's all limited to the speed of the manufacturing plants. Possibly control reasons too.

YEah, I know what you mean about Minish Cap - first I thought it was coming here in December (a la Europe - very reasonable). But it was a no show. So, well, maybe we get a US release (January). Nope. The game stores tell me February. Come and gone. So they say March. Then April. Now it's May.

Jeebus, we haven't even got Four Swords yet! (GC).
