I doubt this is worth a thread, but I didn't want to bother anyone by PMing the question, and I'm curious what that means.

child forums are descendant forums. Gaming forums = child of Discussion. As well, Discussion is the "parent" forum.

You don't really see it here, but sometimes parent forums have their own threads in them. Clicking that option makes it so it reads the thread for that forum, as well as the child threads in the subforum.

So ignore it.

Child is just the term used to indicate secondary or a subsidiary section of a page I think.
