Damn this series kicks ass!

Just finished Blood and Gold for the second time through and HAD to start Game of Thrones again.

The Lannisters must rank as one of the greatest creations in modern fiction.

Feast of Crows can't come soon enough.

ah i see, in related news, i got the hardback of a storm of swords for $1 at a sale recently. initially i bought the series in mass market paperback, but im starting to re buy the hardbacks for collection.
oh yeah, on topic...THE SERIES ROCKS! tyrion lannister is easily one of the greatest characters in escapist lit. and we all wanna fuck cercei, right, right...what...?

Great series, but the time between books is seeming almost eternal at this point.

Not that I would ask a writer to rush his work, but I might be pushing 40 by the time this series comes to a close *shudder*.

I think you mean "A Song of Ice and Fire" and yeah it's great. Definitely the best fantasy series since LOTR and, IMO, a much, MUCH better read. Can't wait for A Feast For Crows...too bad (well good in the end I guess) he's taking like a decade to write it.

No I actually meant "A Song of Fire and Ice" but thanks for the effort... :D

That's too bad as it's actually called "A Song of Ice and Fire!"

But yes it's the best fantasy series out there to such a degree nothing else compares.

I am setting aside tomorrow to cut each sansa chapter out of the first three books. Then I will try and forget.

One of my friends I lent the books to said "Sansa is the Kim Bauer of a Song of Ice and Fire." I found that highly funny.

I've read the first three. I really have. Can't say I was overly impressed, although I was hooked as I read. I can't say I'm looking back and remembering much of anything. It's all a blank.

I was given GoT for Christmas after a relative went into a book store asking for something "Like Lord of the Rings". I'll read the fourth, but I'll wait for the library to get it in.

I'll let you know how it is in 2008,

Hey I've said it before - while sure everyone hates Sansa for being the dumbass character who always makes things get worse either by being stupid as pigshit, cowardly or vapid I still think she's going to have to smarten up and eventually do something right. GRRM just can't have her as the annoying jackass who never dies but always fucks things up forever.... can he? She's the most pitiful character in fantasy at this point, even her enemies think she's beneath contempt because of how weak and dumb she is. At this point if she does ANYTHING even remotely helpful in AFoC I'll cut the chapter out and frame it.

I still think she'll end up doing one clever thing and it'll kill Littlefinger in some painful, horrible way.

That's hysterical, in a depressing sort of way. However, like Calder, I'm optamistic that Sansa will do something to redeem herself somewhere along the way.

Dram, Martin edited the Wild Cards series, as well as contributed stories and the occasional full-length novel.

Duke Juan, it could be worse. Martin could pull a Dark Tower. Nothing quite like 7 year installments between novels to make waiting for a book truly painful.

Edit: It's been a while since I dug this out, but I think I need to remind everyone who the true star of the series is:

Anyone have any theories about who the new POV character will be? Martin's only given a few vague hints. My guess is Brienne of Tarth or Myrcella Baratheon. Even though Sandor Clegane is my favorite character, I wouldn't want it to be him (he's better off mysterious).

Holy fuck...it's been like 2 years since I read SoS, but I have no idea who any of these people are. How sad.

All I remember is Winter place, Summery place, giant war, brothers die, and the end of the book was fucked up.

just finishing up the third book and I have to say that this series kicks ass :O

Arya, Hound, Tyrion > Jon >>>>> *

Tyrion's final chapter in A Storm of Swords put a huge smile on my face

let's not forget Daenerys Stormborm. my favorite character is Jon Snow, with Tyrion a close second, then easily Daenerys.

I dunno...I found Jon's story more interesting *SPOILERS*
until his temptation was removed
*SPOILERS*

He's now too dutiful :b Then again, he's still the character I'd most like to see succeed (well, him and Arya)
