There's this ad toward the back of my new FHM (July 2005, Pam Anderson on the cover) that advertises free Sonic Eyewear sunglasses, and all you pay is the shipping fee.

Every sense I have is telling me this is some kind of bogus ad or something, as $200 glasses are bing given away for a $20 shipping cost.

What's the deal? Is this fake or legit? I'd scan the ad, but I'm on 56k for awhile until our highspeed gets hooked up.

It seems far too good to be true. this is exactly why I'm skeptical.

A quick glance at their website lists it as a "sampling" strategy to "spread word of mouth."

Which is funny, because there's no verification of magazine subscription to be included in the "sample."
