Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra recently told the Los Angeles Times that “Kraven the Hunter” is “probably the worst launch we had” in the nearly eight years he’s been at the studio, adding: “I still don’t understand, because the film is not a bad film.”

I love when desperate employees try to defend their shit products. I guess their thinking is if they put a positive spin on it or bash customers or reviewers, they might squeeze out a 0.5% sales boost before it's gone for good.

Kraven looks like dumb fun at least to me, will probably watch it someday on a streaming service.

Madame Web on the other hand...
Watching some YT vids, everyone piled on both movies. But it seemed unanimous that Kraven is a better movie. Some even said the fight scenes are decent. I dont think anyone ever said anything good about Madam Web. Not even an: it's so bad it's good kind of vibe.

Madame Webb at least has four attractive actresses in it, though it didn’t make the movie worth it.

Kraven, I’m not sure I’ll even bother.

Women I can find naked in other movies lol

I really don't watch films for that very often, I have a wife, and a girlfriend, and porn.

Dokata Johnson's acting is a boner killer anyways.

-I don’t watch them for it either, but at least it’s something enjoyable.

-she was great in Bad Times at the el Royale.

I just wanted Sweeney to be in her battle suit more instead of it all being in a short vision.

I know I would be bad heading up a movie studio because I don't have the same tastes as the average consumer.

His personal opinion is his to have, but to say what he said doesn't do him any favours. It gives the impression that he doesn't know what people want. Not good for the head of a studio.

A few bad review makes a difference, but I've just checked Rotten Tomatoes to see what the wider picture is.

Critic score: 16%
"Top Critic" quote from WSJ: "About as exciting as the board meeting from which it surely sprang."

Audience score: 74%
That's quite the difference.

But high audience score considering the actual cinema revenue :/.

And this mentality is why Sony Film Studios keeps failing...
I'm really surprised how major companies hire complete idiots to run their business.
It didn't use to be like this. There was a time when companies were managed by people that actually understood the importance of delivering high quality products.
At a time when cinema is big chunks of market share to other media, one would expect these companies to be delivering hit after hit, to try to keep being relevant.
But instead, they keep delivering flop after flop, then blaming audiences for not showing up.

They may be attractive actresses, but they're not allowed to have hot scenes or reveal too much skin, likely to avoid making the male audience too horny. Besides if you want to appreciate the beauty of someone like Sydney Sweeney you can watch her in a dozen of other hot roles or simply visit her Instagram. ;)

Maybe they aren't bad. But Sony didnt get the memo that super hero movies are DOA. Especially ones about jobbers.

They're not DOA. But the last few Sony movies have been REALLY bad. It doesn't help that no one in the GA knows who these characters are and that they can usually see it LOOKS bad quality story wise from the trailers.

Guardians 3, Spider-Man 3, Deadpool and Wolverine all made pretty good bank and were well received by the GA. They'll come out for a movie they like... They won't come out if it's all "My mother was studying spiders in South America while she was pregnant with me" or whatever Dakota Johnson said in the opening of that Madame Web trailer. LoL

Makes a change from the customer's and fans fault, but still the same blame shifting as in never their fault, so nothing will change if the movie industry keeps employing people who can't or won't make enjoyable film's for the masses.

I enjoyed the first half of madame web because it was basically final destination lite, they should've just gone all in on that and have them all die gruesome deaths; would've been a whole lot more entertaining than the final product.
Kraven was fine as an action movie, but it's a terrible kraven movie.

I read into this more and it seems he doesn't understand what a 'so bad it's funny/good' movie is. It's usually not a good thing and it's usually a movie that sells horribly and is niche.

He is confused about why the streaming numbers of these movies were much more substantial than the ticket numbers. I had friends who watched Madame Web on Netflix out of sheer curiosity, not because they were itching to see it.
