It'll use conventional city maps, you can share information by WiFi and download content is planned.

Thats it...waiting for wa5 famitsu scans... :)

yeah with gps it would be nice, although I would prefer something like that on the DS because of the touchscreen etc.

I know at one point there were plans for GPS integration but I haven't heard much about it in months. It seems like a perfect match with this software.

Not to mention the fact that, thanks to the built in microphone, you can yell back @ the unit when it gives you wrong directions!

don't forget the microtransactions!

105 yen per area!!!!

and you have to actualy BE in that area to download it!!

now this is really a non-game. lol

Well, it could be used to play that "real world pac-man" game that people were playing on the streets of New York last year. Or for Geocaching, which is sort of a hide and go seek game. :)

.... huh?

That would be a robotic voice guiding you through the process of microtransactions (in this example, the user just missed the address he/she was supposed to stop at, and is asked money in order to be shown again the target).

Oh or that "stalk the pretty girl from the coffee shop home" game. I love that game. Anyone else play it? Anyone? Hello......why do I hear sirens?

Used to play it all the time with my ex.

to be honest, i'm not 100% clear on whether the 105 yen charge is for updated content over time, or whether the umd comes with bare bones from the start.

i'd like to think that the first is the case, but they need to clearly define what they consider an "area".

I said this AGES ago that a real time connection to a local wireless access point, giving special offers, advertising that is relevant to location, etc would be a good use of the PSP and this app is half way to doing that. But the worry is if it really is 105 yen per area, and each area is divided : Shibuya, Akihabara, Shinjuku etc... then that would be a little harsh. Although i guess you only need to pay once per area (again *shrug* not clear)

Who can tell me if Google Maps work on the PSP browser?

No, Google Maps doesn't work on the PSP browser, probably because of all that special AJAX/XML/whatever stuff that's needed to make it so you can drag the map around. On the PSP browser you just get a grey square.

Sounds like the UMD has the map complete as of August 2005 for the nation (Japan), but it has few locations marked on the map. So, you enter a city and enter what type of data you need, pay your buck-fiddy, and get the spots. I think.
