So you're saying, and let me get this right, that trademarks registered by a developer may just be indicative of an upcoming title on any of the platforms they're known to develop for?

Shocking.

At least you're making an effort and actually contributing new information, which is more than some can say.

edit: ugh
translation?

SOE has trademarked two new names, most likely for upcoming MMOGs (edit: actually, probably a PSP game like Untold Legends based on the descriptors): THE AGENCY, FREEREALMS

These are registered trademarks, not patents.

You're the only person in this thread who said anything about patents. :)

Have we ever learned anything... ANYTHING interesting at all from a trademark or patent filing?

I mean, unless you're SUPER PSYCHED about processor architectures... it's all such dry stuff.

Wakune edited his post, he was ranting about how "patents like these are given out to easily, death to the patent office, etc."

What is "A REAL TIME GAME FOR OTHERS"? Is that Sony's term or a legal term?
its a Sony term

its the same term they used for Untold Legends (and a few other games that don't seem to have been released)

It means a real-time multiplayer-based game, likely an RPG of sorts. The bits on the end go on to stipulate that they can do multiplayer via LAN or the Internet.

And since these can be played via LAN, don't expect them to be MMOs. ...that's pretty much all we can take out of this info.

This is just a theory, but it's entirely possible FREEREALMS isn't a game. It's possible they may be considering launching ad-supported servers or games and FREEREALMS would be the name they use for them. PlanetSide has ads now, and SWAT 4 has them as well. Funcom also has a free ad-supported version of Anarchy Online.
