Xbox had a good gen in Portugal & Spain with 360 & the brand was stronger.

But yeah it collapsed.
Tbh I’m not surprised, I mained XSX for consoles at first but probably spent 10x more time on PS5 last year. Gamepass is great but I enjoy AAA games and MS simply dropped the ball, they don’t deserve any success right now, they need to earn it back by releasing some big budget AAA games.

You'd think that Xbox Series S + cheap Game Pass trick would be a hit in a poor country like Spain. 400 units sold in a week is embarrassing.

Maybe the low sales numbers are fabricated to help paint the picture that they’re far behind Sony and it’s no problem if they buy Activision Blizzard?

People overestimated the impact of this strategy.

It was masked during the first couple of years because of PS5 supply shortage and Xbox's early adopters (the 30-40 million people who are brand loyalists and always buy Xbox).

Now, the situation has changed, and data like this will become more and more common as we move forward in this gen.

Spain isn't a poor country.

Spain & Portugal are price sensitive If you're giving people 2 options like Xiaomi vs Oppo per example.

But if you're putting iPhone vs Oppo or PlayStation vs Xbox, 99% would choose iPhone & Playstation Even if they need a few more time to save €€.

The other 1% probably would Walk Way without none unless they really need it.

Brand strength is the most important metric.

The split between the Series and PS5 is almost as bad as that in Japan between the two.
No it isn't.

Xbox is irrelevant in Asia, it isn't irrelevant in Spain... It's just weak.

Many Japan Sales also go to China so by seeing Japanese sales we can see how irrelevant the brand is in ASIA.

Often times people will find a way. I was poor growing up but we still managed to get most of the latest video game consoles

People in the gaming media have been paid so well to say the phrase "MS Gamepass, the best deal in gaming" so much that they all started to believe it'll be the next BIG thing for the industry. They seemed to have forgotten that Nintendo and Sony have been market leaders in this space for 30+ years. Those two actually know what they are doing.

This is before the big stock drop aswell, which happened this week. Could see 20k+ for ps5.

How do you know a big stock drop happened in Spain this week that was bigger than last week?

So all over europe alot of retailers like mediamarket where taking preorders this past week. Ps direct and amazon also started taking orders which has been rare for mainland europe. It all coincides with sonys live from ps5 marketing campaign this past week.

Well when the split is like 16:1 then we can just call that 'dead' then. Haven't checked but Japan the split is what, 25:1.
