Wasn't a remix. I believe the composer (Thomas Newman) has said it's just part of this movie's score. He rearranged and reorchestrated the piece to fit what he's doing on the film .
Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, or maybe Sam Smith.
I'd be satisfied with any, I think.

Basically some dink bet 15,000 pounds on Radiohead scoring the gig, and so bookies suspended betting on the assumption nobody would actually bet 15k like that without having inside knowledge.
There's plenty of reasons. She sang a multi-award winning, multi-platinum theme song.

Skyfall is great if you don't ever watch the movie. If you watch the movie it becomes terrible the moment it's revealed Skyfall is the name of Bond's Ranch.

It was a near miss, too. The instrumental is pretty damn good. And if they'd had just Jack White, or just Alicia Keys singing over it, it'd probably stay pretty decent. But they tried to put them together, and it just kinda ruined it.

Those are all top 10 Bond themes. 3/4ths of them are probably top 5, you're right.
But yeah, you kinda have to discount the orchestral themes, because nothing's beating the On Her Majesty's theme. Except for maybe the Propellerheads remix. But that's kinda cheating.
