Does it exist?

If so, who is the developer? (please be Treyarch)

What systems is it expected to be on?

When is it coming out? (assumes around the time of the movie - sweet!)

Inquiring web-heads want to know.

Most likely Treyarch.

PS3 and Xbox 360.

2007 release.

I'd imagine Treyarch will start working on the tech for Spider-Man 3 on next-gen consoles shortly after the release of Ultimate Spider-Man.

From the last Gamepro (Preview)

Ulimate Spider-Man (for: PS2, Xbox & GCN)
Developed by Treyarch
Target Release Date: Fall 2005

It only makes sense for Activision to continue to build on it's Spider-Man success. But without another Spiderman movie on which to base a game, the next most obvious source is Spidy's origin - the comic's. Based on the comic of the same name, Ultimate Spider-Man will heavily involve Peter Parker's more menacing arch nemesis, Venom, in a brand-new story line. Besides a new comic book look, Ultimate Spider-Man will feature a new combat system that enables Spidey to battle what Activision claims to be "the largest number of villans from the Spider-Man universe ever assembled in one game." Rockin'! The web of action has officialy begun. - Four Eyed Dragon.

Sorry if you were not referring to this one. It is the next in line of Spidey games and have not seen any mention of Spidey 3.

Ultimate Spiderman looks sweet. Looks so smooth in motion. I love the comic book style. I haven't bought a Spiderman game yet, so US may be my first.

Just to spread the press release love:

Activision To Publish Video Games Based On "Spider-Man 3"
Santa Monica, CA - May 19, 2004 -- Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that the company will develop and publish interactive entertainment games based on Columbia Pictures/Marvel Enterprises, Inc.'s upcoming feature film "Spider-Man 3," which is set for release in May 2007. Activision is currently developing console and PC games based on the highly anticipated movie "Spider-Man 2" that are scheduled for release in North America timed to the film's launch on June 30.

According to Sony Pictures Entertainment's recent "Spider-Man 3" announcement, Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst will reprise their roles as Spider-Man and Mary Jane with Sam Raimi set to direct.

Under a separate agreement with Marvel Enterprises, Inc., Activision also holds the exclusive rights to the classic Spider-Man comic book character. The company intends to release a game based on the 40+ year history of the Spider-Man comic book stories during 2005. Under Activision, the Spider-Man franchise has already generated approximately $245 million in revenues in the United States, according to NPD.

Keep in mind that Ultimate Spider-Man is NOT Spider-Man 3. Ultimate Spider-Man takes place in the comic universe, and has no direct ties to the films. However, Spider-Man 2 was very enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to see how the Spider-Man 3 game will turn out. But right now I'm more concerned as to who will be the main villain in the actual film.

I know that Spider-Man 3 is not Ultimate Spider-Man.

:)

Anyway, I could have sworn I saw mention of a Spider-Man 3 game in one of these threads. That's what prompted me to ask.

Date: Most likely day and date with the movie. = Early Summer 2007.
Developer: It will ~most likely be Treyarch again.
Systems: Everything. PS2, XBox, DS, PSP, Xbox360, PS3, Revolution, PC, ???

Spiderman 2 had a hell of a lot of potential. It could've been one of the best games of the generation if they fleshed it out a bit more. Unfortunately they ummm, didn't. The main story was a little too short, and the world itself just didn't have quite enough to do in it in terms of meaningful side missions. The basics were there for an awesome game though. I'm looking forward to USM since I can use some classic Spidey costumes, since we all know that the comic book Doc Ock looks like a thug in his green pajamas.

Yeah, I think part of it is that they spent so long getting the swinging mechanics down that the content had to suffer, and the movie license was probably fairly restrictive.

That's exactly why I feel Spider-Man 3 and USM could be the best Spider-Man games EVER. They basically have the webbing down, so it's all about the content and story. I'd love to see Spider-Man 3 encompass all of New York City.

Why do you think those two only?

I'm not a mind reader, but if I had to guess, i'd say because we know almost nothing about Revolution, and the last Spider-Man game for the PC was the worst thing EVER.
