PARIS - A French urban climber who calls himself "Spider-Man" scaled a 59-story Paris office building Wednesday with his bare hands and without using any ropes.

Alain Robert took less than 45 minutes to climb the nearly 700-foot-tall Montparnasse Tower building, gripping the metal girders on his way up.

Robert, renowned for climbing without ropes or other equipment, has scaled the Eiffel Tower and more than 30 skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building in 1994 and Malaysia's Petronas Twin Towers in 1997.

The funny thing is that the guy actually has a fucked up sense of balance, due to some impairment to one of his ears. If you ever see him interviewed on the ground, he usually has to support himself by holding on to something.

He is quite possibly the coolest human living.

It only takes the real Spider-Man 30 seconds to climb to the top of a building like that. /me does a sigh/rolleye combo.

I was wondering that too. But he's climbed a bunch of buildings in the US, including the Sears Tower, World Trade Center, and Empire State Building.

:lol He's normal.

Has he climbed the CN Tower yet? If not, I wonder if he could tackle it. Be kinda hard getting around the observation deck. Of course it's kinda hard climbing up the fucking Empire State Building too.

I saw a documentary on this guy...and his son (I think he was 3 or 4 at the time) was climbing up a pipe in the bathroom like it was nothing and hung off of it like a monkey. The little kid had a mullet too.

I don't know why I had to mention the mullet. :p
